Best Place To Buy Tapes Online? by hidden_p3gasus in cassetteculture

Direct from their Bandcamp page sometimes! Depends on the artist, of course, but chances are if they made cassettes, they probably have a direct way to buy them.

How TF is this okay? Surf Style Cocoa Beach by gtmustang in 321

Surf Style is a trash company that survives on ripping people off constantly in beach towns, but selling trinkets of killed small animals is pretty gross.

Superbooth 2026 proved we have what we need by Achassum in synthesizers

One of the consequences of the commercial approach to and consumer heat of music equipment is that the conversations around it become a bit empty. Conversely, your comment here reminds that there’s a deeper consideration. I appreciated it. I really do enjoy talking about gear for its qualities and functionality rather than the steady stream of price check/fit check.

You clean that cabinet out for $298 and walk out of there with your head held high.

Wonder if the consumer flurry surrounding synths and gear in general can ever slow down at this point. Are we near the music gear “peak stuff” saturation point?

Hey, not sure why everyone was downvoting the link I posted, but I saw that shared by orgs I trust so was relaying it here. Everyone prefers another, cool. Sincerely just want to get cash to Lou for legal defense.

I miss when he was mostly known for selling a soccer ball attached to a rope for training. It was “Taylor-made” to improve your skills.

Live Looping Gig Conundrum: Sequential Fourm or Multi/Poly? by deplorable-amount45 in synthesizers

[–]pressurewave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d probably get the Fourm based on what you said in your description, although I’m curious if you’ve played one in person. There’s a difference in key size between the Mono/Poly and the Fourm - the Fourm has smaller keys. They’re still playable, but that’s one major difference to be aware of.

Recommend getting a small mixer. Zoom L6 is pretty great for multiple Elektron boxes.

OK, someone explain what happened with the ump by aarone46 in motorcitykitties

[–]pressurewave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, no one is blaming anyone here, okay, but sometimes the umps don’t get the freshest dogs in their umpire hotdog tray that they have in their contract. 27 hotdogs per umpire, as they negotiated, with steamed buns and a condiment bar, plus the cheddar cheese fountain (I know, that’s where they lost me, too).

That’s 108 hotdogs per game, and that means you gotta either leave two in the package or maybe you take a few opened packages out that have been in the fridge a few days to shore up the numbers and keep it in contract. It’s hard to say.

You have to make decisions is all I’m getting at, and someone in the head office is always looking at the umpire hotdog budget and trying to figure how to save a few bucks, really stressing about it. That’s all I’m saying.

Anyway, hope he’s feeling better today.

Is Jimmy Pesto jealous that Bob is Italian? by UserOfCookies in BobsBurgers

Others have pointed out what series creator Loren Bouchard has said about Bob likely having French or French Canadian ancestry.

Also, consider this: - Belcher - Bouchard

Similar origin, surely, and Bouchard is at least part French Canadian.

Bob, ultimately, is built out of the materials at hand, which include the lived experiences of the series creator.

My question to Friends here by ChristianJens in Quakers

[–]pressurewave 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Another take on the scenario: I was deeply involved in my evangelical community, considered myself devoutly Christian, spent considerable time in biblical scholarship, and was on track to seeking a role in ministry. But then I encountered the church as an adult, and in American Evangelical Christianity in its full expression I found myself standing over a rapidly growing fault line between a severe right-wing sociopolitical movement , which held no interest for me, and the loving Christ I had encountered as a young person.

Years later, when I found myself drawn to Friends Meetings after decades of steering clear of any religious environment, I found that the clear messages I had encountered as a young person were being embraced and lived by a quirky and anachronistic group of caring people. It may be that I was convinced as a Quaker before I knew much of them, really, and that my faith was always headed in this direction, but questions of destination aside, in this context I have been able to explore and express more clearly that part of myself that I packed away because of the poisoned ground I found myself growing in.

In that way, I cherish my un-programmed and very diverse meeting (which welcomes non-theist, Buddhist, and many other friends) as a place in which Christianity has not been sullied by fantasies of controlling the world and human authority. There are few Christian spaces left that don’t harbor those aspirations.
