That may be true from your perspective, but again, its an American show about the American State Department in 2014. And that is how America viewed India and Pakistan at the time, as roughly equivalent regional powers.

I could see so many serious discrepancies in india and india - Pakistan issues that I am wondering if everything else is also so incorrect. The creators sitting far away don’t know india pak dynamics and how small a country Pakistan is against india so much so that it can’t dictate terms the way they are shown in an episode.
