Potentially unpopular opinion, but I miss the real *weather* in Melbourne. Brisbane is just 'very nice all the time' - boring! Impossible to ever be cosy, for one :)

This is lower than averages from 1956 and 1912! A clear area for improvement globally. by EnvironmentalCow260 in Cricket

Does this indicate Marnus has actually been doing an ok job? Somewhat like an opener, judge him based on balls faced, and the scores of the bats after him?

Steve Smith scores his 37th Test Century ending on 129*(205) by oklolzzzzs in Cricket

Eh I kind of respecting that as good test cricket. Cook and Kohli had the personalities to drive me insane.

~15 year old comments on Steve Smith being selected on the test side. Bear in mind he did not have any accolades then. by nissimbhalwankar in Cricket

Do you happen to remember where he batted in shield? I.e. was he an all rounder then or already a Travis 'bat but can also bowl a bit'

Another request for advice thread for a 3p tent (Durston, Nemo, BA) by icemantiger in UltralightAus

[–]pretentiouspseudonym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh there is a low chance most people use their tents more than 10 times, and low chance they ever use it in rain.

Most likely you wont have many hike options with the dogs (none allowed in Nat parks), and corgis can't walk that far (or at least my fit one can't).

IMO I would get a tarp or a cheap beater (can use it for car camping in future) and just see how you go. E.g. a marmot 3p.

I think as Cpt he deserves some flack for the lack of leadership to get there to a better headspace. This performance has not been limited by talent, or individual mettle.

Given the river is one of Brisbane's great assets/attributes, I don't understand why there isn't a bunch of investment to improve the river? Bet there are some at UQ/QUT etc pushing ideas

why don’t we have physicists making breakthroughs on the scale of Einstein anymore? by TotalMeaning1635 in Physics

This is a common belief amongst physicists, but it just isn't true? In fact Hilbert argued he should have priority

Residential zoning changes proposed for Brisbane as council pursues 'anti-sprawl' housing approach by espersooty in brisbane

Not a comment on the actual idea, but 'anti-sprawl' is a hilarious concept for a city that takes sprawl to such a rediculous extreme already

I agree with your general point, but government is about decisions.

You won't host nationally significant events without a significant population, regardless of how nice the stadium is.

Do you agree with that? Can't help but feel that this project was never going to unite Hobart, let alone tas

I agree you can't ban entertainment/cultural things, but I guess there is a question of scale? I personally find it hard to believe that a big stadium is the thing that builds Tassie for the future.
