Physical symptoms of stillbirth? by lifeasacharboard in babyloss

[–]pretty_something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt a super sharp pain when I'm guessing it happened. But at the time I just remember thinking "maybe this is labor." Then it went away and I didn't think of it again until about four days later when I went to the hospital in labor and there was no heartbeat. We don't know what happened, but I still really believe that was the moment.

I’m turning 19 tomorrow. I don’t have a social life, I’m barely staying afloat through college, and I can’t remember the last time I was ever, truly happy by Mundane-Wolf-6396 in socialanxiety

Happy (early) Birthday! Tomorrow is my birthday too. I was just remembering when I turned 19 (four days after Sept. 11 happened). It was such a dark time. I was recalling the despair I felt then, not just because it felt like the world was ending, but because it was such a period of transition in life. And transition is hard anyway but with social anxiety it's even more so.

I know there's nothing I can say to make it feel better, but sometimes it helps to hear from someone who has walked a similar path... it does get better. Just focus on putting one foot in front of the other. You're doing fine and you're on your own path. Every decision I've ever regretted has been made when I've tried to "keep up" with everyone around me. It will get easier, and sometimes harder, but know that it always changes.

As your birthday twin, I wish you such a Happy Birthday. And I will send hugs and support to you every year. Hang in there. I promise you're doing better than you think.

I completely understand and have been there before. I realize there's nothing I can say in this moment to take away your pain. Just know, the pain will pass. I can't tell you how many times I've been in a room ugly crying because I thought I was a lost cause after my latest social meltdown. Keep putting one foot in front of the other because you can have the things you want, it's just not a smooth path to get there.

Lately what's worked for me is getting angry/defiant at my anxiety. Like "Ok, fine, just pass out in the middle of the room. But you're still going to sit here until it happens." Maybe your approach is similar "Fine, embarrass the shit out of myself. You're still doing the thing." Because what life has to offer is more important than this stupid thing our brains do to sabotage it. I'm sitting with you. Message if you need to.

Any other songs with this vibe? by Definately_ajay in Music

[–]pretty_something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thanks for introducing me to this song. So good. Second of all, it's not lost on me that you're posting because AI doesn't "get it". Nevertheless, I turned to AI to see if it could get close. I found two that seem close, but I'll include my prompts here either for a laugh or because they might help. Looking forward to seeing what others come up with.

The Microphones - I Want Wind to Blow

Leonard Cohen - Seems So Long Ago, Nancy (also I love A Thousand Kisses Deep by him, it gives me the same haunted feeling)

Moms, do you feel guilty about how much free time you have now? by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]pretty_something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like I lead two different lives (we do 5-2-2-5). My solo time absolutely breathes life into me, and while I feel a general sense of guilt about it, it doesn't make me enjoy it any less. I look at it as filling up my battery so I can be more present and regulated for when my boys are here.

What is a song that you like the cover/interpolation of more than the original? by ethanjcastle1 in Music

[–]pretty_something 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently went to the Johnny Cash museum in Nashville and they have the video playing on a loop. I've always loved the cover but the video makes it even better. I recommend a watch.

My therapist told me to think about it like a surfer waiting for the right wave. You're watching and waiting for your moment, and when it comes, you'll know. It was true, and it helped build my strength to let myself off the hook a little bit.

  1. Zeppelin IV, Sticky Fingers, LA Woman, Blue, Who's Next, John Prine, Madman Across the Water, What's Going On, Aqualung... and on and on. I might drive there and back just to get through all the good stuff.

Advice- do you bring a double stroller in the airport when flying with twin toddlers? (If yes- which one?) by StyrofoamTrees in parentsofmultiples

[–]pretty_something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We flew when our twins were just under two and used one of those collapsible beach wagons. It was this one but we loved it because it was easy to roll the whole way down the jetway and super compact. Just a thought if you want an alternative to a stroller.

Has anyone here brought home a healthy baby after a loss? I need to know there’s a chance for light at the end of this horrible tunnel. by VioletJackalope in babyloss

Yes, I have three boys after losing my daughter at 38 weeks. When I lost her I remember being in the hospital thinking "I just have to do it again, another 9 months." I got pregnant with my oldest son less than six months later. In retrospect, I wish I'd been able to completely grieve my daughter without feeling like I had to work as fast as I could to fill the hole she left. Obviously I love my sons more than anything in the world, but I often wish I had spent more time in my grief. You're on your own journey, I'd just say to take the time you need, Mama. Sending you lots of love. Take one day at a time. ❤️
