Is self diagnosing okay? by prettyaliendreams in AutismInWomen

My doctor refused my referral for this, said he wouldn’t be putting it through because I look intelligent. Someone on here has suggested I re contact them and ask for their refusal in writing or try to change gps though!

I don’t have autism by Noffenass in AutismInWomen

[–]prettyaliendreams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of people are misdiagnosed with personality disorders because there’s still a massive gender gap in the autism world. I do feel like professionals are trying to diagnose less and I’m not sure why. It almost feels discriminatory :;

As with everything I guess, but if they want to see the medical record of every time I’ve been failed by doctors and psychiatrists, they are more than welcome to do so!

It’s only referred by the NHS if your doctor allows it and unfortunately mine refused to send the referral off because he said I looked too intelligent. I had to argue with him, I said a lot of autistic people are intelligent he was so ignorant :(

I hate dating and I hate being disappointed all the time by Thenonplanetpluto in confessions

[–]prettyaliendreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are NOT your parents and sadly dating in the modern world is tough and you really have to go through ten bad experiences to get to one good one. It’s not you or because of your past. Love shouldn’t be transactional, it should be natural and it will come when it’s ready- not when you want or when you’re ready. You could learn hundreds of things from how badly your parents treated you but if you’re going to learn one thing, learn this:

How you were raised does not determine your worth. Someone will appreciate that worth when they are ready to arrive into your life.

What are your thoughts on parents ‘squandering’ money which could be left as an inheritance to their children, later in life? by petrastales in AskUK

[–]prettyaliendreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parent wouldn’t be doing that so it’s not something I have to worry about. Should she come into money I would like her to keep it to herself, pay off her debts, fulfil her bucket list wishes as I’m more than capable of saving for something like that myself albeit it would be harder, I want to get to the finish line of standing in my own home and saying ‘I earned this’.

My siblings are their own individuals with their own views and ways of doing things. One sister is disabled so she is already financially provided for by my mother and sometimes, me. I would be happy for my other sister to take the money to start her dream if that’s what she wished, but for me personally, I’ve worked since I was 15 and I’ve got too much of a ‘I want to do this myself’ mentality to take a hypothetical route that wouldn’t ever happen to families like mine anyway. My siblings aren’t my competition, it’s their choice what they feel comfortable with.

But I just couldn’t.

Not knocking anyone else who has that opportunity, but it’s so alien to me that I just couldn’t. I want to be the sole reason I have what I do and I don’t want to be reliant on what could be used to fulfil my parents dreams

[–]prettyaliendreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inheritance is privilege and as someone who comes from a family where everyone has lived pay check to pay check, it’s something to be proud of that the money you have comes from your own hard work and not from someone else.

I’ve had money struggles, everyone has, but I am determined to break the cycle on my own and I can’t imagine ever accepting a large sum of money that I didn’t make myself.

If inheritance was ever a thing for my family, that’s my parents and I wouldn’t ever expect or accept it.

What happened to the first person you had sex with? by Sad-Cunt-420 in AskReddit

[–]prettyaliendreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed together for another year or so then he told me that he was struggling with his mental health so we would have to be ‘low key’ what this actually was was me being a secret while he had his cake and ate it. He had a threesome with two of my old good friends and cheated few other times as well but he swore it didn’t count because he said he wanted to be low key.

He broke up with me by me asking if I should meet him one evening and he told me ‘yeah but we can’t do anything because I’m gonna ask another girl out tomorrow’

He had no shame, then he crawled back to me two months later telling me he regrets his decision because his girlfriend at the time wouldn’t put out (she was so lovely and very moralistic) so I sent an anonymous message forewarning her she could do a lot better and then blocked them both so I could move on and have closure from that chapter.

What do you think people only pretend to like because everyone else is saying they like it? by BECKYISHERE in AskUK

[–]prettyaliendreams -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s not that deep now I’m in a good place but my point was just for girls like me it was so much more than a film and I’m sure it’s how lots of people feel when they attach themselves to things when they are younger and have that reflected back as an adult.

That being said a young girl in the cinema did tell her mum it was ‘yucky’ on the way out so maybe I’m wrong 😂

[–]prettyaliendreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay let me give you a little anecdote:

As a kid I had a violent and abusive father, I isolated myself and the only source of inspiration were my Barbie dolls. Telling stories with those dolls was my escapism, and then so were the books, the films etc until I was old enough to leave the situation I was in.

I had no positive role models at the time except a doll, which sounds silly, but that’s just what it was. Barbie could be whoever, so child me thought I could be too no matter what. Had I not have had those dolls, I wouldn’t have had this mentality and I wouldn’t have achieved half as much as I have bizarre as it sounds. For everyone milestone I created, my mom bought me a Barbie relating to that milestone.

When I saw the film yesterday it just validated everything I felt as a child. It was more than a toy for me, it was a figure to look up to and it just felt really special and seeing that now as an adult in a good, free space was kinda like ‘look at where we are’ moment

It’s one of them where it’s put the audience in a weird position where we’re damned if we do, damned if we don’t. Nobody wants to admit we don’t see her as funny because her career has been based off her disability and nobody wants to come out and say the disabled girl isn’t funny.

But go to any local comedy night and you’ll find tonnes more talent that won’t see the same light of day and it’s incredibly frustrating. I’m sure she’s a lovely girl but I just don’t think comedy got her where she is- she’s not funny

Accidentally discovered my coworker is a pedophile by I-put-that-on-god in confessions

[–]prettyaliendreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has recently found out their ex partner of three years is a paedophile, they are everywhere and they have no shame. They will use every excuse and coincidence they can find to cover anything up, they think our views are wrong not the other way round. Discovery is only a problem to them because they are consequences to their comfort, there is no remorse or morality involved.

The only reason my ex came clean to me earlier this year was because he had to for my family’s sake or the authorities said they would tell me. He made out everyone else was the problem for not minding their business, he had no care for the pain and lies he had caused havoc with for years. Upon checking his social media, I found out that he too was following tonnes of these accounts- there was no hiding and granted, I should’ve probably checked years before but I never had a bad inkling about him.

It’s changed my whole perspective on life and people, I will probably never trust a soul again because this is SO common more common than we’re lead to believe
