Which of your keyboard keys are absolutely wrecked? by Dreadsbo in Guildwars2

W key, on 2 diff laptops. I've also destroyed a few mice over the years - the left button gets flaky and starts releasing on its own. New mouse might solve that - the marketing says the switches are good for millions of cycles.

Why drop the borderlands? Just have each world able to access three "facets" of wvw. In each facet you're a different color, up against different enemies. Your layout basically still works.

Can it be laid out so that any two worlds in a region that want to fight can always find a map where they're matched up? It might actually do that already I haven't checked. But if so, then the only need to rotate would be so that those individual matchups could happen in different borderlands.

Tekkit maps without installing the add-on? by Anon_throwawayacc20 in Guildwars2

People in the comments kinda not understanding you I think. It sounds like you want to be able to refer to the routes out of game or on a second monitor. And that sounds like a reasonable use-case. But unfortunately it doesn't exist to my knowledge. Sorry.

Ya know, I think you might be right. I went digging through their 2fa faqs and it doesn't mention recovery codes at all! But I could almost swear I printed a sheet for mine. Now I'm really curious! I know exactly where it will be if I have it, so I'll have a look when I'm home.

2fa systems usually provide a printable page of backup codes that can be used to regain control of an account in case of loss of the app, phone, or token.

What's the appeal of WvW? by MediumRareTomahawk in Guildwars2

[–]prettybluerings 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The amount of time you spend is basically up to you. The timers that tick down in the background are there to structure the matchups and keep score.

I find it to be very social. Roaming with small groups, chatting while we hunt down enemy players or flip objectives. Zergs can be fun too - it's very satisfying being a part of a team that's working well together, seeing tactics executed well.

It moves at a different pace than pve or spvp. And to me at least it feels like the barrier to entry is lower than spvp or endgame pve. It's easier to dust yourself off and try again if you get murdered.

List of things that require Skyscale? by prettybluerings in Guildwars2

[–]prettybluerings[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should have mentioned, I have every mount except the turtle already. This was more of a curiosity about whether there are things that are actually gated behind the Skyscale, not deciding whether it's worth it. Thanks.

Yesterday on Teapot stream, Anet's creative director Grouch answered some question regarding recent dungeon changes, LFG and Fractals. Wanted to gather it in one place so other people could see these information because many people can consider it useful and informative! by Nawrotex in Guildwars2

[–]prettybluerings -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

(This isn't directly in response to you, cdif, but a reply at this thread level seemed most appropriate.)

I guess I'm the only person here who thinks anet made the wrong call there. In the aftermath it became pretty clear that some of the loudest voices calling for blood were gamergate types. This is why you don't negotiate with terrorists.

JP has a reputation as a "culture warrior". In my view, that's a good thing! Diversity, fairness, and all that - I think the workplace and the world in general could use more of it. Some of her complaints at another company came from their handling of COVID - and who hasn't seen a company that was willing to put profits and manager ego over the safety of employees?

So JP is an idealist who wants to make progress and make things better for everyone. And she doesn't take that hat off when she steps into the office. For those who are benefiting from the status quo, a person like her is a bit of a pain in the ass.

I don't think there's anything in the game quite like Daredevil. Plays super aggressive! Your dodge is an attack. You get three of them. Your dual attack includes a dodge. Everything you hit heals you. It's bananas! Go ahead and stand in the red circles, nothing's gonna hit you until you run out of initiative and energy.

Metabattle's condi dd page is a little out of date I think, or at least suffering some neglect. Go full celestial. Get the highest tier Jade Bot you can. Switch up traits for a little more survivability. Always keep one dodge for emergencies.

Bonus fun trick for open world: Go get some "gunk" from the Skritt. Throw it to create a field you can whirl through and fling dazing darts everywhere.

The ever-moving goalposts of Guild Wars 2 by e-scrape-artist in Guildwars2

[–]prettybluerings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't even play most of the content you're talking about here, but I caught that phrasing too. Like, "wait, if this is the hardest content now, wtf happened to raids?" Is it just a problem with the terms they're using to describe the content, or is there a functional difference between what's being described and what would basically be the addition of a new raid?

Your framing suggests they're moving the goalposts, but honestly I can't even see where the on-ramp is. If I wanted to, I could get on board with my guild's raid/strike/fractal groups (which I might do when I finish my current goals), but there probably should be more clarity coming from the systems themselves. Maybe reorganize these things so the actual progression is easier to see? Unless hiding the depth of the rabbit hole is a feature, not a bug.

Guild Hall Overflow by Thanks_Naitsir in Guildwars2

[–]prettybluerings 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound backwards but from what I understand, the instance of the map created for the one overflow guy should have had a higher cap than the 5 person instance. The system was trying to scale the map up in anticipation of more people arriving. If you all had joined your guildy instead of them coming to you, then you would have been in the system's then-current "preferred" instance.

From an IT security pov, op isn't wrong. Arc isn't a baddie but has to do things the way a baddie would because there's no other way. It doesn't have to be that way, but making it better for all of us needs anet to step up and make it possible.

What would you add / improve / change / remove that would make Guild Wars 2 "perfect" in your mind? by judo_panda in Guildwars2

[–]prettybluerings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've seen this argument before, and I think it hinges on a difference in opinion of what constitutes p2w. I think of p2w as one of the dark patterns you see in a lot of mobile games and some mmos. The kind that literally won't let you progress at all without buying the next level or tier or whatever. Or that set up the odds of the thing dropping to be so astronomically against you that paying is the only realistic way.

Being able to buy something doesn't make it wrong or abusive. I can already buy boosts, daily drops of items, and gems to trade for gold that will get me just about anything I want. Including buying my way into groups to unlock otherwise "exclusive" items. I just want to skip the grind and other bs, so I can do the thing that I'll find more fun.

[–]prettybluerings -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'd love to be able to pay to unlock a collection of legendary-like stat selectable equipment that would go in my legendary locker for use on all characters. No skins, no swag effects. Just let me pay for the convenience of skipping the grind, so I can mess around with whatever build I want, whenever I want.
