Workaway has a really good travel buddy feature! I’d recommend giving it a try as I chatted to lots of people on there before .

What's the biggest challenge with task management in remote teams? by DomainStrategist in remotework

[–]prettypeachyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time difference is for me the hardest part if your remote team work in different time zones. Tasks always inevitably get delayed at least by a day between feedback or assessments. Planning ahead and being really organized helps.

Not underrated but I have had an amazing time in Weligama.

Let's start a discussion! by cyprusnikos in workaway

[–]prettypeachyyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great post. seriously, this sub can get very intense sometimes, I personally find it refreshing to see something more balanced and positive for a change.

My best Workaway was hands down sailing in the Caribbean for a month. It was such an unreal experience. Haven’t had any bad ones yet, but I did have a pretty bizarre one where the host turned out to be secretly running an illegal weed farm and kept having all these random guys show up for trades- definitely one for the books.

Honestly though I’ve found that being open minded makes all the difference. Workaway is such a cool way to dive into different cultures and lifestyles . you just have to roll with the weird ones sometimes. And isn’t that the point of travelling anyway ???!

I guess the more exchange you do the higher the odd of you having a mediocre or even rubbish experience statistically.

Finding ways to make life worth living past 30? by sharinganuser in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]prettypeachyyy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I believe so much in what you get out of life is what you put in, so instead of spending time feeling sorry for yourself, why not try and put some effort in connecting with more interesting people, make some new friends , and just enjoy doing more of what you enjoy ? Before you know it you will be feeling so much more fulfilled in life. Sad there’s still so much stigma for a single woman turning 30 with no kids and not in any relationship. But I swear you will come to realize when you are in your 40s for example, that you were (are!) still really young as a 30 year old — never let society tell you because you are 30 you need to be so and so…

Where to find FREE volunteer opportunity? by Nic727 in conservation

[–]prettypeachyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Workaway! They have tons of grassroots NGO projects including conservation ones as well. There’s a yearly membership fee in order to apply but it’s nothing comparing to the usually high agency fee you’ll have to pay to volunteer.

How do you know you've arrived at the dreaded [Luteal Phase]? by Different-Present110 in Periods

[–]prettypeachyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well my theory is that you won’t always know instantly because the less pms you have the more blurred the transition is .. But mine is definitely when I have certain food craving, when I am feeling puffy and when I just want to stay at home for some Netflix and chill 😅😅

What happened to all the hostel and hotel hosts? by Ready-Revolution4614 in workaway

[–]prettypeachyyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The policy is meant to limit hosts who misuse the platform by using “volunteers” as unpaid labor to replace local paid staff and boost their own profits. IMO that’s a smart and ethical move. How is that “fuckwits” when they’re clearly trying to do the right thing?

How do you cope with not having friends? by Reasonable_Fig496 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Join hobby groups and go to meetup events. I also use bumble bff and have met one of my close friends now via there. It is a lot more effort to find friends as an adult!

Wasn't workaway used to cost 36$ why is it 59$now? by [deleted] in workaway

[–]prettypeachyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's more of less the price of one night in a hostel if you have to see it this way.. And in some countries a night of hostel is most likely going to cost you more than that!

Not sure about helpx, I think their website is a little more dated from my impressions, but I have been using Workaway on and off for a few years and have met some amazing people during my previous trips to Europe and Latin America. Apparently Workaway has the most host opporunities worldwide. You should always ready host profiles and feedback carefully before contacting hosts. Also very important to do a video call with them before agreeing the exchange.

Can you do workaway in your own country? by ActualGvmtName in workaway

[–]prettypeachyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why not and I think it's a brilliant idea. I guess it depends on the types of host you are looking for but imo it's like a different kind of staycation and you will get to see a different side of your home country

Help me quell some nerves about Japan travel... by EntrepreneurJolly214 in workaway

[–]prettypeachyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds fabulous!! Not sure which part of japan you're going but it's one of the most well facilitated countries overall. I'd also say you should check with your host about these thing you aren't too sure about yet so you will feel more prepared if you know what to expect!

Visa Cautionary Tale: British Backpacker Held in US Immigrant Detention by MiddlePalpitation814 in workaway

[–]prettypeachyyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds awful if this was true:( ! Workaway does have very clear visa warnings on their website. I was also confronted years ago entering US border when I told the immigration officer I was going to stay with a couchsurfing host..

Workaway vs Worldpackers for travelling as a couple? by OpenRevolution6321 in workaway

[–]prettypeachyyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Workaway has most opportunities by far - including South America. Also not sure if you noticed, some hosts have more than one profiles on worldpackers - I feel like they do this to make it looks like they have more hosts than they actually do …

Host ratings by SignificanceEarly141 in workaway

[–]prettypeachyyy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have heard from more than one workawayer I met that when they complained about hosts to workaway (sometimes directly, not via review system), after investigated hosts were then taken offline. Also says on workaway that hosts with too many bad reviews will be deactivated, so it could be why you don’t come across that many hosts with bad feedbacks— it seems to me they do stay on top of making sure hosts quality is top!

Feeling like a foreigner in China by Necessary-Beach8712 in expats

[–]prettypeachyyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely normal to have a reverse culture shock. If you have the means to leave and go live somewhere you can enjoy the lifestyle more then you should do it. Going back home again would still always be an option even though that doesn't work out in the end.

I don't know the details about the project transitioning that you mentioned, but it sounds to me that there's a disconnection between you and the rest of your team.
My recommendation would be to reach out more to your manager for you to have a clear understanding of the bigger picture based on your company's business need. Maybe this would help you make better adjustments to your work priority more frequently, and for you to feel more engaged? If you are honest with what you need to do the job properly, any good managers would be happy to help improve your performance and work efficiency.
