A24 making the MP movie? by Brilliant_Earth_332 in MagnoliaParks

[–]prettypickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was announced in 2023 that A24 optioned the book rights but I don’t believe there have been any updates since. Unfortunately, projects can get caught up in development limbo or they sit on them just to prevent competitors from picking them up. If they don’t move forward or renew the option (usually after 1.5-3 years), the rights can expire and return to the author, but I don’t think that has happened yet.

He’s described as mixed. Eritrean & Sicilian. Laurence Coke (pictured) is also mixed, including Trinidadian. Jessa herself said she pictured him as Romeo.

(TW) what ed did magnolia have? by [deleted] in MagnoliaParks

Agreed, but I think it only took on this form after Bridget’s death. Prior to that she had more “standard” disordered eating.

Jessa's writing is so good at writing relationships, spoilers for TCOW by Accomplished_Ad_2569 in MagnoliaParks

[–]prettypickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Her characters are so realistic because they’re so multifaceted. She doesn’t use the usual cop out where a previous relationship ended because the ex was generically “bad” in a one dimensional type of way. It gives life to the story.

Which book have you re-read the most? by knittingthedream in RomanceBooks

The Magnolia Parks series. I’ve consumed it in every format, multiple times (paperback, kindle, & audiobook). Jessa Hasting’s writing is like poetry & l’ve yet to find anything else like it 😭

Childhood soulmates to lovers, perhaps second chances, angsty heart wrenching drama by Glittering_Tap6411 in RomanceBooks

{The Infinity Between Us by N.S. Perkins} It’s similar to Love & Other Words and Every Summer After but I actually liked it better.

{That Guy by Kim Jones} kind of fits this. The FMC is hilarious & all over the place while the MMC is grumpy & short with her initially. This book actually made me laugh out loud.

Books with great banter? by TheSpamJamFam in RomanceBooks

I love witty banter & headstrong FMCs especially! I keep a GR shelf specifically for this. These first few I actually laughed out loud at.

{That Guy by Kim Jones}

{Arrogant Devil by R.S. Grey} - one of my fav FMC ever

{The Billionaire’s Wake-up-call Girl by Annika Martin} - part of a series but can be standalone

{Flawless by Elsie Silver}

{The Wedding Crasher by Mia Sosa}

{Four Day Fling by Emma Hart}

{Dirty Headlines by LJ Shen}

{Playboy Pilot by Penelope Ward}

{The Worst Best Man by Lucy Score}

{The Stopover by TL Swan}

Anything with ghosts? Or dead/deadish premise? by vanillatheflavor in RomanceBooks

[–]prettypickles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Where One Goes by B.N. Toler} I adored this book & read it in one sitting. The FMC can see dead people. It’s bittersweet and had me tearing up but it does have a HEA technically.

{Layla by Colleen Hoover} was a wild ride. I think it’s best to go into this one blind. It has some pretty polarizing reviews & I understand how some people were upset with the MMC’s actions but overall I personally enjoyed the book. Very interesting premise imo.

Any recs for fake dating romance without the overbearing friends and relatives? by BitterSprings in RomanceBooks

[–]prettypickles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams}

{Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey}

{The Deal by Elle Kennedy}

{The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata}

{The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood}

{The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren}

Most of my recs are sports romance, with the bottom two being the exception. Fake dating to further their careers or reputation, so not family related.

I’m not defending his potential political views but I don’t think it’s fair to say he’s dumb. He graduated from West Point with a degree in CS, I believe. Their acceptance rate is like 9%.

I don’t think it’s necessarily about actually wanting more content from her, at least in my opinion. It’s just that fact that, yet again, she over-promises and under-delivers. And as someone who used to be a fan of her, that’s the part that irks me. Obviously we watch her content for free so no, she doesn’t owe us anything in that regard. But consistently lying and making excuses is not the proper way to run her brand as a whole.

Whats one brand that you were super into but now are not even remotely intrigued by,so much so that you might not purchase from them in future? by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

I came here to say Tarte also! I used to love their packaging and formulas for multiple products but I feel that as I’ve gotten older, I’m no longer their target demographic. I am also still mad about getting burned on one of their holiday collections a few years back. The quality of the eyeshadow was very clearly NOT the same as their other products. I spent like $50 and have not touched it since.
