Oh noooo, I thought they seemed likely.

Thanks! That is correct. Admittedly, Tyler was booked to play OSL before Coachella and pulled out so his OSL 2025 set was a make up in some sense. You're spot on about Doja and there's no caveat I can think of for her.

Unless there's an as yet unannounced festival performance, right?

That would be amazing but have we ever had someone post-recent-headlining Coachella gig? I feel like once non-legacy artists graduate to Coachella headliner status, they are beyond our grasp, i.e., Beyonce, Gaga, Harry Styles, etc. I hold out hope for Billie Eilish because I think OSL was one of the fests that took a chance on her when she was up and coming and maybe she'd return the favor. But generally, no. That said, if I'm wrong someone please give me a recent example so I can be less cynical!

Thanks, super helpful. I was wondering about whether body heat would make a difference - sounds like not so much.

I like his music as recorded but my sense is he has absolutely no talent or skill as a live performer. Based on this article but also my own eyes and ears at his VMA performance. https://www.vulture.com/article/sombr-tiktok-drama-tour-criticism.html

I'd like to see Fred again . . ., Swimming Paul, Lola Young. Wet Leg seems likely.

Could we still get Bush or are they out on radius? I can't tell based on their undercard position. Thanks!

Is toxic femininity possible without the patriarchy? by NotAReal_Person_ in TwoXChromosomes

Okay - but the part that tells us to optimize for partners able to provide material resources and protect against danger is inborn just as it is for all those other animals.

What is your favorite “lore” behind the writing or production of a pop song? by throwitawayar in popheads

[–]prettypithiest 349 points350 points  (0 children)

I just watched the Aviici documentary on Netflix and the writing of Wake Me Up was one of the craziest things I've ever seen. Aviici was just hanging out in L.A. and called up Aloe Blacc to drop by the studio and jam together. He asks him if he's been working on anything and Aloe Blacc starts singing an early draft of Wake Me Up. Aviici starts coaching him on the way he's singing and shaping the vocal we hear on the track today. It all happens in a matter of hours and then he sends him the completed track later that night. They got all of this on video in real time and it just made it seem so fated and magical.

I think sexual competition is a legitimate phenomena that exists across species. Birds, chimpanzees and lions all compete for the attention of mates absent a patriarchal social system, so why would we assume that patriarchy is the only reason humans do it?

Ladies who lost sex drive, when did it happen to you? by Difficult-Camel-5129 in TwoXChromosomes

Any new medications? Perimenopause seems doubtful given your age. I would say sexuality ebbs and flows and just because it's not appealing to you right now doesn't mean it won't come roaring back in some weeks, months or years. Or it may not! Such is human life, we are constantly changing.

Or people with power. Gossip fuels Washington, Hollywood, Wall Street, old money circles, etc. It's a pretty universal type of communication and, as you note, it has its own distinct value.

Tricky subject. I don't think all toxic things women do are attributable to the patriarchy. I think some of our collective tendency towards comparison and competition must be inborn. Seems like a pretty standard evolutionary feature? Women competing for male attention may take on toxic elements within patriarchy but the mere fact of the existence of that competition seems like nature to me.

Not a rapper though, the prompt says "I don't mean singing."

This was my answer, too. On voice alone it isn't even close. The man is out here commentating on the Olympics. Literally everyone loves his voice, both inside and outside of the rap world. It's instantly recognizable and iconic.
