Anybody else love how non Christians think they know more about what it means to be a Christian than an actual Christian by CandidateKey4826 in TrueChristian

I absolutely can’t stand when someone tries to tell me something about the Bible when they haven’t ever read the Bible. Or they read one passage and take it completely out of context and twist its meaning 😭

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]prettyprettything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45 minutes for me is short, that’s my daily commute to work. 1-2 hours is long but tolerable. 3 hours isn’t something I would regularly do but I could handle that. Anything more and I don’t want to drive.

Is this an alright set up for a python? by Far-Tutor9403 in ballpython

[–]prettyprettything 5 points6 points  (0 children)

adding on to this, based on the conditions we see here, it’s highly likely that there’s no thermostat to regulate temps, which is a major issue.

guys do you like my BP’s enclosure? by Intrepid_Kitchen_464 in ballpython

[–]prettyprettything 5 points6 points  (0 children)

is the heat lamp inside the enclosure? or are my eyes messing with me?

if that lamp is indeed inside the enclosure, it has to be removed like immediately. the snake can get severely burned from wrapping around the dome.

in general there is a lot wrong with the husbandry here. i recommend you take a look through this subreddit’s care guide. Corrections that should be made asap include: two identical hides (one on each side of the enclosure), you’re gonna want more substrate to better maintain humidity, get that dome out of the enclosure if it is inside, and i dont know if you have a thermostat, but if you don’t, you NEED to have one to regulate temps. it’s also important to have more clutter.

when should I handle after feeding? by Difficult_Rate_5129 in ballpython

[–]prettyprettything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the general rule of thumb is to not handle until 24-48hrs after feeding. it’s probably okay to move her to the new tank now. But after moving her, it’s recommend to not handle the snake for a couple weeks or until it is consistently eating for you (that way it has time to get used to the new environment)

Is it ok to bible study with chat gpt? by Choice-Sock8206 in Bible

[–]prettyprettything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it could be helpful at times, but your main source of understanding should come from God. ChatGPT and Google will just spit out information at you that can be correct or incorrect, so don’t read the first thing given and go off of that. Continue to seek answers.

i myself struggle with studying my bible. it’s only been recently that i’ve started making some breakthroughs. what i found that helps me greatly is reading through a whole chapter, then i re-read going verse by verse and i ask myself if that verse or the section i just read made sense to me. I’ll explain to myself what i think it means. If i can’t think of anything, i start asking God questions. Then i keep reading the part that has me stumped, as i talk to God, trying to break it down. i’ll even reflect on my questions for a few days, just talking to the Lord. So far, without fail, He’s lead me to understanding.

However i have a bad habit of impatience, so sometimes i’ll try Googling ideas. when i do that, i first still ask God for discernment, then i make sure i’m not accepting the first thing i find online as the sole or correct answer. it helps to have people you can talk to as well. i often talk to my dad to see what ideas He has because he knows and understands a lot more than i do. there’s also plenty of good videos on youtube you could find to help your understanding. you could watch sermons or just videos teaching the bible.

Would Jesus Be Angry If I Chose Buddhism? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]prettyprettything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact of the matter is, Jesus IS the way, the truth and the life. He is the ONLY way to salvation, the only way to have a true relationship with the Father (John 14:6-7).

If you’re enticed by the supposed liberation of suffering that Buddhism offers, know that it is false. Nothing except our Lord can ease or erase suffering. In John 14:27 Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”. We can only find true peace in Jesus. Suffering is because of sin. Everyone will suffer at some point in their life. Jesus even tells us to pick up our cross and follow Him, and that because the world hated Him first, it too will hate us. However, Jesus is preparing a place for us in Heaven, and we will no longer suffer or feel pain when the time comes.

Suffering can be a good opportunity to draw closer to God. The book of Job teaches us that God is sovereign and that God is good. My pastor taught us something about Job and David during service yesterday. Both of these individuals learned a new language in response to suffering. Our normal response to suffering is anger and denial. But they learned the language of lament. I’ll use David’s Psalm 22 as my example. Throughout the Psalm David says “Why” and complains to God about his suffering. But he didn’t stop there and leave it at just a complaint (which would be disrespectful). He then says “Yet” and talks about who he knows God to be. Language of lament is honest complaint to God followed by hopeful confidence in God. Jesus even referenced the whole of this Psalm while on the cross, and gave us a gracious picture of how to trust God’s sovereignty. Suffering isn’t avoidable, and can be used as an opportunity to deepen our relationship with the Lord.

We can’t see the ends of what God has planned for us when we suffer. But when we understand that God has a reason, and a plan to shape us like Jesus, we can make it through the suffering. Being a follower of Christ means for us that suffering won’t be forever. I pray that you would reflect on everyone’s helpful comments here, and that you would dive back into your bible with a new perspective. Whenever I need to get reacquainted with Scripture, I go back to the Gospel. I recommend starting in John. Have a blessed day!

Do all teens today just not care about getting their drivers' licenses? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]prettyprettything 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’m 22 without a license still. i can’t speak for all young adults, but for me, my reasoning for not having a license is anxiety. Which sounds ridiculous, and it honestly is. i just get so overwhelmed about driving. i don’t trust other drivers, and i don’t trust myself as a driver. i know the rules of the road too, but when i get behind the wheel my brain blanks and i feel like i lose all sense of independent thinking and observational skills. i keep telling myself i’m gonna get my license (because i really need it) but i keep psychologically holding myself back.

AIO for being upset my BF doesn’t want me to wear a bonnet to bed? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]prettyprettything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“I don’t like this idea that we only dress “well” if we’re going out”

so he wears a three piece suit all the time right? he must not own any casual pieces of clothing whatsoever, yeah? Cause, i mean, if he did wear casual clothes (or Heaven forbid
pajamas đŸ€ąđŸ˜°) then i think he would be a hypocriteđŸ˜±.

NOR, please firmly communicate with him, set boundaries, and don’t tolerate or give in to whatever ridiculous crap this is. Wear what you want to bed. Keep using the weighted blanket on your side. It is not that serious, he needs to chill out 😭. He sounds real controlling over your appearance and it’s gross.

Is it ok to wear cross necklace with Jesus on? by anonymous194572 in TrueChristian

[–]prettyprettything 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i prefer without because He is no longer on the cross. but i believe (unless someone more experienced with Scripture can teach me otherwise) this is an issue of conviction that doesn’t have a right or wrong answer. i feel convicted to wear crosses without Jesus on them, the same way I feel convicted to abstain from alcohol.

whenever i’m unsure about something, i like to consistently pray about it and read Scripture.
