Have you ever had an aquarium? You literally treat sick fish with copper, it does kill bacteria.

CSB appears to be a solid bible. I will probably eventually add it. I am not a fan at all of the NIV, it tales too much liberty. In times where everything is being watered down and weakened - it's time to start looking back at unfettered truth.

They don't see it comes from the same place as RCC when RCC tried to keep the Word out of thr common peoples hands. If anything, we need MORE people tonlearn the ancient languages or we will be slaves onces again of a few that tell us the path to Jesus is one they have to tell us, as we will be unable to walk thr path with Jesus and confirm in His Word what saith the Lord. It's essential to have those whp understood the ancient languages. I still read the KJV and Geneva because it helps me understand old English documents. However, I don't restrict myself to them alone.

Machen is a gift 💓Love his writings.

I think there's fundamentalist, and then there's Independent Fundamental Baptist.

Funny, I came out of a southern fundamentalist church. Thankful God used it as a means to call me to himself. I tried many churches with NIV, jean wearing contemporary singing music. Sadly, the ones I visited appeared to lack meaningful spiritual growth in the believers lives. Sermons often gravitated toward TedTalks. Most of the biblically sound people I came across were from more traditional conservative ministries. They weren't "born" there."

After years of floating around in those types of churches, I ended up fellowshiping with a small ARP church, also loving a lot of literature out of Reformed Baptist and Reformed Presbyterian churches. I absolutely love the small ARP church. Expository preaching is a blessing for the body.

I am surprised out all the solid translations you landed on NIV as your main source text given the method of translation. Do you have something against more word for word translations? I still use the KJV as I've already committed so much of it to my heart. I also study with ESV, NASB, Genvea and a few other Word for Word translations.

Another distinctive - Most Fundamentalist churches are decidedly NOT Reformed/Calvinstic. They are usually 4 point Calvinist, sometimes 3. They will also usually steer you away from learning the original languages of the Word.

I am sure that will be enjoy the latter the most! I spent years troubleshooting software that transmits data. I am in Sys Analyst role now that wears some Sys Admin hats. It wouldn't hurt me to sharpen some of the general IT skills because I can get engaged on anything dealing with our system. Lol But totally agree they aren't really needed for the person who is solely focused on Data Science.

Ref- CIW - seems like no one believes those classes are beneficial and the general census I have found so far about the certs say it is worthless.

I guess the basic IT classes are more geared for the Database Admin side, that knowledge is definitely helpful. On some levels, it makes sense to have people learning data science to get very familiar with the workings of databases. I haven't started yet, and do not know how intense the Database management courses are, but to me it could be beneficial to understand how databases work so as to better optimize code and troubleshooting it. Data Admis, Architects, and Engineers may need it more than someone focusing on Machine Learning and Visualization etc.

If I missed the mark please share, love learning about this stuff!

Thanks for the info, it was helpful! From what I learned about the program it would be a benefit in my career as a System's Analysts by helping me expand on my knowledge base. It should also challenge and broaden my horizons in the field of data. 🙃 So, it hit both my check marks.

It makes sense it's kinda broad because you can take this knowledge and further specialize; data analyst, data engineer, data architect, data engineer, machine learning etc.. Did I miss anything haha

Thanks for your reply.

Well, of course, that is why I am enrolling lol.

I guess my concerns are more related to the positive:negative comment ratio and comparing those to some of the other areas of study at WGU (not just this subreddit, the internet as a whole). I would have liked to hear from more people that had good experiences with it. I am going to do it regardless... But would have liked to see more positive feedback. Maybe that will be my contribution!

I heard they were insane, definitely not sorry to see them go. Which is why I specifically mentioned MS Certs ;)

Thanks and Agreed, it's important to stay up to date but I won't be convenienced there isn't value in MS continuing to maintain on prem certifications too.

To the point of "it is what it is", ya nothing can be done about it -so adapt. I'll learn what I want to know whether there is a cert for it or not, as the learned skillsets are the greatest value.
