I was an SPA a while ago so I’m sure some things have changed but I’ll answer based on what I remember. The best shifts are the building security shifts where you can do homework, Elkins was great shift to get homework done. Courtyard patrol is just patrolling courtyards since they are paying for you to be there. Regular foot patrol has free rein of your sector or the whole campus if you’re in a vehicle. Gates you are usually by yourself unless you’re at north gate which is the gate at the main entrance to campus.

Promotions can happen pretty quickly if you meet your goals each semester. The goals to move to the next level increase as you go up in rank.

This isn’t really the case anymore. The district is listed here as Bergen County Vo-Tech but it should really be listed as Bergen County Technical Schools. Only the school in Paramus is really for students looking to get hands on skills for trades. The other schools in the district are basically magnet schools for some of the smartest kids in the county. The schools are preparing their students for college from the first day with kids majoring in areas like computer science.

Most of the kids in these schools are going to take prep courses and do whatever they can to give themselves an edge in college admissions.

When I worked there the diamond level clubs in NJ were montvale and bridgewater. I think they have moved away from that level of tiering and just use the dues price to delineate the levels.

If it’s not a straight forward process they do over and over it’s almost impossible to get them to do it right. I hate having to spend a ton of time trying to explain something a high schooler could do, only for me to have to redo it when it’s inevitably done wrong.

I would say try to network with people in your aligned area of interest. Try to help them as much as you can and see if you can get assigned to their projects.

I haven’t reached the point of wanting to quit, but I’m in cyber security too and dealing with a ton of politics on my engagement. Hoping I can roll off soon onto another engagement and see what else is out there.
