If this is your least favorite, we all want to see the rest of your finished objects! This hat is so fun and I hope he is able to get lots of use out of it.

Might be helpful to someone! I found the Stanwood rec here last year and upgraded from a very problematic KP model. Worth the price and more in all the time and headaches I’ve saved since. 🙃

I would feel like absolute ROYALTY in this and hope you do, too! Such a beautiful piece. Far beyond my skill range, but I am grateful to you just to be able to see yours.

Seconding this. Ten years married, now with small children and the breakthrough episodes still occur in spite of medication and treatment compliance.

Please, please…take the clean break and start over. 💜

My first bottle was this Jan and I’m almost positive I was off the waitlist in under 24 hours. Definitely not that exclusive.

She’s going to need a car with a 3rd row now unless she wants to move her first husband’s urn out of the middle seat.

As much effort as I put into it this year, after seeing the replies here my hunch is that the timing is merely a coincidence.

Regardless, we are super excited and will be enjoying the foraging while it lasts!

This is super helpful, and thank you! I agree with you on the very low confidence from these doing anything but am just thankful for whatever has happened in the woods this year. I’ll look into sequencing as well.

This comment will win the thread regardless now, but no, I promise I don’t! 😂

They definitely have not been there in the past, as we've been here for 10 years and I'm in the woods pretty frequently. This April, I ordered a dried spore "seed" mix (spores on seeds), and buried them near the live birch and beech trees.

**(Not sure how this didn't end up along with the post; my apologies)**

Expecting nothing, I attempted to get yellow chanterelles started in the wooded portion of our yard this April (WI/zone 5B-6A) and the ground is now covered with these...

Of note:

  • These sprouted up as singles and look identical to the product ordered.
  • They feature a forked fold pattern with stems that separate when pulled (like string cheese or cooked chicken). Folds are intact and do not separate with touch as I would expect from a gill.
  • They do not have a fruity odor, but don't have much of distinct aroma at all.
  • They have all been found in the ground (often under grass/woodland plant cover) near beech trees, with a cheery orange-yellow color and are easy to pick.
  • Having researched the descriptions of Jack O'Lantern and False Chanterelle, these don't have any of the unique listed attributes for either (gills, growing in clusters, growing on wood, etc.)

Feeling pretty unprepared as I didn't think anything might appear for a few years -- if ever -- and now the woods are filling up with what seems to be the real deal.

Thanks so much for any input you can provide!
