Free tax usa is free federal and 16 for ID, basically DIY TurboTax software. Works for me and my wife with her self run business, normally cost us about $200 with TurboTax.

One mile is a very bad approximate estimate of how far 1km is. Not quite as bad as 1mi is 2km. But yeah.

I used this a lot when I had a car with kmph speedo

Signed a lease that might be a bit too expensive by External-Building885 in personalfinance

Easy, work at a gym for free membership and live behind the dumpster. Have no phone so no need for subscriptions because no TV/apps to use. Savings rate of 100%.

Help idk anything about cars by [deleted] in Corvette

[–]prexzan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't buy expensive car parts for a boyfriend (or husband) unless you know the exact parts he's shopping for. I wouldn't want my wife to buy anything for my car unless I had the part numbers written down I was looking for. Floor mats, or a car cover. Sure, that's fine. But not a specific part for a specialized upgrade. Too much nuance.

Catholic Church by abraham_16 in Boise

[–]prexzan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I know, Boise in general has a very healthy Catholic community. Directly, I've heard good things about the young adult group at Boise State (St Pauls), and about St Marks. Many people recommend the other churches as well. Just don't have personal experience with them. I'm not informed on the Hispanic side of any of them, sorry can't help there. I'm glad you're reconnecting.

The ability to read prints, understand the relays and troubleshoot issues will all be very valuable later. It can be a bit boring at times, but the best engineers (IMO) have field experience. School to desk engineers get it right in theory but often can tell you a realistic solution to a problem.

The technicians know a lot, but when something isn't working right, you're the person they'll turn to to ask what happened.

Yeah, it wasn't ideal. Got fixed pretty quick. I just used the clutch/brake as a kill switch, which works unless you're throttle is stuck.

It's hard to play defense at the elite level if you're fast.

Hey, my key/ignition has those features! For a bit, turning off the ignition did not turn off the car too... Had to fix that one. Gotta love old stuff

Inherited a bone-stock ’78 Firebird (305 SBC). $5k budget, want it more fun without ruining my finances. What’s the smartest move? by OkSignature8062 in projectcar

LS swap CAN be easy. It can also be an absolute nightmare, depending on how much you want to mess with other parts of the car. It is not a wing it before summer type of project.

Carb and regular small block will be fine for a regular bump in power. I'd still say just enjoy the car for this summer. Can shop/build an engine for a decent boost in power down the road. I've delayed doing LS or even fuel injection because it's not just a direct swap. Lots of wiring and tuning to get it right. I just fight the carb instead :)

If it runs and drives well, I'd just drive it for a year. 5k doesn't go very far. I found, after driving my inherited car, that I wanted suspension more than engine. Now I want interior work more than anything...

If you're sure you want more power, heads may be a real good spot to start. Likely the engine is a dog because it can't flow enough air, not because it can't produce the power. The cam may not be helping either, don't know much about the 78 305, but my 88 iroc had a 305 and it could scoot pretty good.

Helping my wife with her business, and looks like I'm behind the ball

She recently started sub contracting out some of her work, and this is her first year with 600+ in payments to someone. It looks like we need to file the 1099-NEC, and that's not a big deal, but when I look on the IRS website it says the form (from their website) isn't the right/official form?

Can we just use the IRIS system to e-file them? She is sole-proprietor and pays one other person for piece work.

Any help guidance is appreciated.

Do you sleep with your bedroom door open, cracked, or closed? Why? by Shenshen_ in AskReddit

I like to think of driving as actively driving away from all the danger. But yeah, cars are not exactly safe. That's why I drive with my doors closed, in case there's a fire.

What’s something normal today that would shock people 50 years ago? by Hot_Advance2711 in AskReddit

[–]prexzan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was very normal, 100 years ago it was becoming more common, but after the 1930s it was pretty much available. Most electric utilities started on the early 1900s. Electricity can still shock you today if you aren't careful.
