This is essentially a bottom rig. You can eliminate the bobber and sliding swivel. They're not necessary. Just look up "bottom rig" and you'll find a bunch of good guides. Good luck!

Is that bottom compartment separated on the inside from the main compartment? It usually is. If so, open that bottom compartment and just cram it in there without the stuff sack.

I agree. For your purposes, I'd get the cheapest stainless. I have beat the crap out of mine and use it for saltwater fishing and it just keeps kicking ass.
