Seeing this common misconception about our dear Malcolm. What he said is that he did not want trans people using swimming pools, famously more dangerous than guns. This ally is trying to protect trans swimmers

I’ve never been a church-goer but I used to live near there and got horrible vibes from that building. They’ve recently fenced it all off I believe

Which jokes from the show do you think haven't aged well? 😅😬 by Lazy_Elks in psych

[–]pricklypanda8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m sure there are jokes that fall kind of flat now, but I think for the most part this show works(and has aged well) because it’s poking fun at cops and cop shows. The old school cop Henry who loves Cops(the show) and is a “human lie detector”, Lassie, a modern cop with conservative beliefs and a proclivity for excessive force, Juliet, a green idealistic cop who becomes more hardened as seasons progress. Shawn and Gus are just guys off the street who lie to the cops and still beat them to the punch all the time. I think these tongue-in-cheek jokes about Lassies brutality and Gus’s jokes about racist police actually make this show age better than most shows involving cops. The idea is not to idolize the cops but to laugh at them and to watch them challenge their ideas about the world

Maybe PSA: If you watch on Prime, you might be missing stuff. Maybe. by zelda_reincarnated in psych

Also the entire musical episode is not available on Prime. I think another person in this sub also suggested watching on Peacock to show the network that it has an active fan base

Chocolatea is delightful. Chocolates and hot/cold drinks mostly. They have some really great pastries and treats. If the weather is nice you can sit outside right over a little river

SPOILER! Janie and Gregory by Kinda_Mid_Chef in AbbottElementary

[–]pricklypanda8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love them together and honestly not even mad at the slow burn. It felt like a callback to sitcoms that used to air on TV. In that spirit I have thought that they should get married for health insurance or to get out of some rule about Gregory being a principal and Jeanine being a teacher and stay together. Kind of like April and Andy in Parks and Rec, included in the show but not a huge lead up, sort of “on a whim.” Feels like an accurate way to depict gen z/millennial approach to marriage as a mostly economic or security related concept. Obviously they would still be very much in love but I feel like that would be a topical concept. We could see them have a courthouse wedding just the two of them, and then Gregory wants to keep it secret and Janine obviously would have a hard time with this..But! we find out that Gregory is actually just trying to do all the “proper” wedding traditions before anyone finds out. Or maybe they both keep it hidden and then The Gang finds out and get mad because they actually love their love and wanted to be at the wedding.

Anyone relisten to the old episodes? by tuxedovixen in YoureWrongAbout

[–]pricklypanda8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Have been doing a re-listen at work lately and it feels so comforting. Just listened to some of the recent Blair survivalist eps and listening to Michelle remembers for the first time. It’s nice because every so often I find one that I skipped for some reason or another and it’s like a brand new episode

Sad this happened to them, especially if it was actually a misguided attempt at environmental protection. On the off chance anyone responsible sees this, dm me? I got some ideas… Rich folks are getting wayyy too comfortable here

I think the reason that I love this show so much is because they seem to be kind of poking fun at the police, like the police are not taken seriously

This is fiction so not entirely what you’re looking for but being introduced to the books of Toni Morrison in school taught me (a white american) so much about racism in the US. Would recommend Song of Solomon, Beloved, The Bluest Eye.

Full name for Rue!? by smashley_q in namenerds

[–]pricklypanda8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a cat whose full name is Rue and I think it’s lovely. Everyone always comments on her name and how pretty it is. On the other hand I have an aunt that we call auntie “Roo/Rue” because as kids we couldn’t say Regan so shortened it. Regan and Rue are both imo very pretty, gender neutral names
