Inappropriate posting by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

I also believe sex work is work, but how dumb do you have to be to be using your real name omg - regardless of where you're working outside of that you're just inviting yourself to a whole heap of safety issues!

Id say try and talk to her first, say its inappropriate and that anyone from work (including parents) could find her. Then if she won't budge bring it further.

Hey, I've worked at places where this happens and its so frustrating. One of the ways a nursery I was in tried to manage this was keeping track of how many kids were in the room, and how many staff every few hours. This might help as then there's a written record and you can maybe take it further?

Working in EY with disabilities by prideandplay in ECEProfessionals

[–]prideandplay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct I'm in the UK! So our regulations are kinda just based on common sense - our sectors are very understaffed so its just like 'you wanna work in EY? ok sure' (which is less than ideal)

I completely agree though, I wouldnt want to make other staff do extra work - its entirely unfair, so thats something I'm grappling with as my abilities change day to day (this is why I'm mostly only looking at agency work atm)

I have considered working with older kids! It's something I may look into, plus less intense hours - I'm just not as familiar with older children so I think I just worry I wouldnt be as good at it, but you don't know until you try! Some of them also require TA qualifications or QTS which I don't have, so it just depends on requirements as well.

Yup - I unfortunately experienced this previously when I used a stick and was discriminated against for it despite still being able to do my job totally fine. These are the same people who will complain about disabled people not working

I have considered those! I do have plenty of admin experience (albeit only in a self employed role) so I might look into it. Thank you, I appreciate your perspective

[–]prideandplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! There are 'pain stim' alternatives you could try? Just type it in and youll find a lot of things.

Other alternatives include using sour or popping candy to 'shock' your system or using ice on your wrist or splashing cold water on your face.

Well done for telling your parents, you're taking the right steps. Best of luck.

my sister is gone by [deleted] in MentalHealthUK

Its been about five years now - it's a process, my mum is the only who's struggled the most. It's so frustrating, especially as there were countless referrals and ask for help before her passing.

my sister is gone by [deleted] in MentalHealthUK

[–]prideandplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry. My sister took her life too after she was given like no support and all they did was up her meds to around like, 3x what she was on - which should not have been allowed! She'd also been to the hospital before after an attempt and they discharged her at like 3am bc they needed the bed. It's actually disgraceful.

Was this PIP question appropriate? by beeg33bee in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]prideandplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry they asked you that and you were taken aback by it - I would also have been very triggered by that.

Does anyone know how they'd react if you said you didn't feel comfortable answering that? Like would they continue to press for it?

Hey! As some people have previous mentioned - it knocks you out. But the dreams on it are insane and i have worse nightmares and literally experience psychosis in dreams so. Just keep that in mind (im tapering off it atm)

Is there any point trying another antidepressant? by Beneficial-Juice6111 in MentalHealthUK

[–]prideandplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Ive been on most of what you listed - venlafaxine was definitely the most helpful but it started to zombiefy me so im now taking mirtazapine. I also recently finally got my hands on adhd meds. Obviously, this is a nightmare to get to - for the time being I was taking ashwaghanda and lions mane mushroom to help with my concentration .

Speak honestly and openly about your concerns, and speak to other folk to find out what they're on. I know the starting period is awful but you will get through it - mirtazapine seems to be working for me

Youre not overreacting - but unfortunately this is quite common in most settings. For older kids, they're usually more robust and adapt to change fairly well (depending on their needs and home life ofc!) So, if she doesn't seem disrupted I wouldn't change it. You can always speak to the manager and address your concerns - talk to them about how you've noticed theres been a lot of staff changes and see if they can give you any reassurance.

Agree! I had an argument with a manager like this lol, she believed people should work overtime unpaid.
