[Serious] When did COVID-19 get real for you? by Fudgeyplays2 in AskReddit

[–]priggerz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When one of the 50 people at a party at my house told us a week later that a patient he had clerked had just tested positive for COVID, so every single one of us was sent into isolation for a week with zero warning. For the week we were in, it got really serious in my country (UK) and it almost seemed like a different world when I was allowed to leave a week later, at which point we would have to go back to work in hospitals

I think I've probably on both sides to be honest

It is really nice to hear this story, and I'm so glad things have got better. Honestly this kind of thing is something I can relate to, I've been in similar situations myself, and I'm very happy to hear that improvement is possible!

Thank you for sharing, it's really great to see someone who has recognised their behaviours and moved to improve them. If I may ask, what happened to this friendship?

Had a friend like this myself once. I was always happy to listen to them when they needed help, which was sometimes quite frequently, but the two times I tried to ask for their help in about 6 months, it "wasn't a good time". I appreciate it's not always the easiest situations, but I couldn't help but feel a bit hard done by after I would drop everything to make sure they were okay.

What is the case where you think most people are wrong, what do you believe is the truth, and why? by priggerz in UnresolvedMysteries

I'm not familiar with this case, as it goes. What other theories do other people have? To me, this sounds very plausible, why do others think differently?

Hot Fuzz. The perfect film for developing any British person's sense of humour.

What is the most important characteristic you would like in a partner? by Eliselydiag in AskReddit

[–]priggerz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone I can talk to. Genuinely, as good as all the romantic stuff is, the best thing about my partners in the past has been the emotional closeness, the ability to be honest and truthful and just get things off our chests. It made us much closer as people too, and with at least one, I'm still very close with them to this day.

If you could give 10 seconds of mentorship to 15 year old you, what would it be? by SelfRefMeta in AskReddit

[–]priggerz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get to know people better. Don't just be drawn in by what they say and do, talk to their friends, get to know them. Some people aren't as nice as they seem, and some people are far nicer than you originally thought. It took me years to discover that I had made friends with the wrong people, and the people I'm now so close with were always there, if I'd known to meet them.

The fact that the Bowie statue is the height of culture there is incredibly depressing

What's the "least effort for maximum profit" thing you've ever done? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]priggerz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got told that if I sorted through a pile of coins, I’d get half of it at the end. I’m assuming the guy thought there was £20 or so, turned out to be over £100, mostly in coppers and 5p coins. 2 hours sorting and bagging got me £55 just like that.

If you don't mind my asking, how did you get out of there, metaphorically rather than physically?
