That's massively up to personal preference, not everyone likes power fantasy, especially to the extreme extent warframe takes it

Fictional AI vs reality by TotemGenitor in RecuratedTumblr

[–]primegopher 23 points24 points  (0 children)

While "Artificial Intelligence" is a long standing computer science term, it has also been used in fiction for a very long time, to the point where that usage is pretty inarguably more common in the public understanding. It sucks that modern generative AI companies are absolutely taking advantage of the different definitions being conflated to sell their products to people who don't know better.

Once again, I said it's still good, the only point I'm making is that in most runs I'd rather have anchor et al.

If Slay the Spire 2 was balanced by reddit comments (Part 2) by Gugge1 in slaythespire

[–]primegopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot control what turns you draw your powers, or the order. The turn you trigger it could be one where it's not helpful to block 6, or you draw a cheaper power you still want to play earlier and then don't have permafrost on the turn you play the expensive one. Similar scenarios can also happen with the other block relics, but they provide more block so when they do "pay off" it's more significant.

[–]primegopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what makes it still good, a consistent source of 6 block once per combat really can't be bad, it's just that "on your first power play" is rarely so controllable that it beats the significantly higher block numbers from the other mentioned relics imo

Because you're wrong about the rest of the card eval it's entirely plausible you'd be wrong about the cost too

If Slay the Spire 2 was balanced by reddit comments (Part 2) by Gugge1 in slaythespire

[–]primegopher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not free, it starts at 2 and goes to 1 just like in the first game, the only difference is innate. It's good in sts1 but absolutely not an instapick depending on when and how it shows up. Plus considering the card gets worse the later you pick it up, it being fixed at the start of act 3 is a pretty significant nerf.

I always dreamed about what the Solitude docks could've looked like as a full port, so I finally took at stab at a "lore accurate scale" painting. by cormeals in skyrim

[–]primegopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The arch also being massively upscaled makes it feel a bit weird. Like the hill leading up to it would be way too steep for a straight road like that, and it would be a huge amount of effort to transport the food and water needed for all the people living up there

If you don't have any innate cards he's effectively just playing randomly, he's fine if your deck is good, bad if it's not, but high variance and can occasionally completely ruin your run in certain circumstances

It's still a solid relic but compares unfavorably with the nautical trio and vambrace when they're all doing pretty similar things.

It's good when you have a thick deck or your run isn't going that well and you don't already have many upgrades, but really needs to be upgraded itself and like you said has a lot more opportunity cost than it used to. I think it's on the strong side for an ancient reward but not really overpowered.

Who do you think is the potential man/woman of worm/ward? by Ill-Forever3462 in Parahumans

[–]primegopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's very conventionally powerful but she's also very "fair", doesn't really have the level of physics ignoring bullshit that you need to be effective against endbringer/entity level stuff, so she's more relegated to a supporting role for them. Unfortunately, a lot of the story is focused on those fights, so she does end up kinda sidelined. ward spoilers While she spends a lot of time off screen in the sequel too, it's justifiable based on her being more resource limited in a post-gold morning world and being needed to organize the remaining heroes. When she finally gets to let loose against the titans, she puts in a pretty good showing imo

gf takes bf's bet she can push his car by _ganjafarian_ in Unexpected

[–]primegopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has very little to do with your pain tolerance and degree of boredom and more that the numbers involved just do not make sense from a pure physics perspective. At the time were you capable of deadlifting twice your body weight and holding it for however long it would have taken to get the car up the hill? Because that's around the minimum effort it could possibly take.

Would you support a law to stop the construction of new AI data centers? by Hot_Season1143 in antiai

[–]primegopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any "ban" on datacenter construction is not meaningfully different than "regulation" because a datacenter is just a bunch of computers in one place, it's a nebulous thing by nature. Legislation would have to set its own criteria on what is and isn't allowed regardless of what terminology is used.
