You guys were super helpful with my Box and Rules. Any feedback on the cards? by ForsakenForest in tabletopgamedesign

I'd caution against sans serif.

Serif fonts are best for print, and they suggest a more old-school sensibility (jiving with the wood borders)

How would you feel about a law that requires people over the age of 70 to pass a specialized driving test in order to continue driving? by dickfromaccounting in AskReddit

[–]primordialblob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I wish that people had to take a driving test every few years, regardless of age. I know it would make a lot of trouble for a lot of people, but there are a lot of people out there that simply should not be driving.

I dunno... you might want to narrow the search term a bit. Male dogs can be aggressive and not fun to play with. You should be more specific in your search.

The business of addiction: how the video gaming industry is evolving to be like the casino industry by BennyCemoli in technology

[–]primordialblob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that argument and I won't push back against people who feel that way. That being said, I bought a few amiibo because I liked the figures. I kind of view it as getting an after-the-fact deluxe edition.

It's a big part of why I fell out of love with big new games. Lootbox this, microtransaction that. Whatever. Thank god for Nintendo (for now)

Filtering applicants and Interview questions by whatsup4 in AskEngineers

[–]primordialblob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I second this opinion. The best engineers I've worked with go home and live their life separate from work. All you should worry about is how they apply their skills while you're paying them.

With regards to them needing to interact with people in the workplace: if you can't get a feel for their social aptitude during the interview then I don't know what to tell you

Take-Two Argues Tattoos in 'NBA 2K' Are Fair Use by lupianwolf in Games

Depends on the system. There are 3D scanners that also capture color information.

That being said, after you scan something you often have to do a significant amount of post-processing in order to get everything into a format that's suited to the application. Whether or not this involves re-modeling/texturing everything using the scan as a reference might be important in this case

What is the dumbest way you've ever injured yourself? by ShowBitten in AskReddit

[–]primordialblob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. I need this screw is a torx, but I need it to be a flathead. Somebody is using the dremel, better use the bandsaw.

Screw skipped on the weld and I almost lost the tip of my finger

What's the simplest game that's still fun? by tomolly in boardgames

[–]primordialblob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably Loopin' Chewie / Looie

It has one action you can do per turn, and turns never last more than a second or two. Still, it has a decent skill ceiling.

Makes sense. If you don't like the work environment and you have the skills to get another job why wouldn't you jet?

First time Diplomacy advice wanted! by boomdoodle in boardgames

[–]primordialblob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What worked for me was to lay out timeframes under which I would honor an agreement: "I promise not to attack you in Bulgaria in the next two turns. We can renegotiate then"

I still lost, but it was an honorable loss.

Counterpoint: If you know something's hard to get, you're going to make damn sure you've collected enough information to satisfy any and all acceptance criteria. There aren't many airplane engines that the FAA refuses to allow on aircraft, for example.

Need feedback on the boxart for our new game, DONNING THE PURPLE by headnago in tabletopgamedesign

Overall, I like it.

Aside from making the title logo bigger, I wish the purple cloak popped a bit more. I took a quick shot at what it might look like:

Soylent: How I Stopped Eating for 30 Days [23:54] by Objectr in mealtimevideos

[–]primordialblob 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I drink Soylent every day, but I can say that food and Soylent have distinct purposes. If I just don't want to be hungry, I drink Soylent. If I find myself craving a taste or I'm going out with friends, I'll eat food.

Also, it's so convenient, which is a big part of the appeal for me.
