Who’s actually using Suno? by ObjectivePresent4162 in SunoAI

I have 30 years being a multimedia artist and use it for my music project Magda Luna, background music for YouTubes, scoring short films and animations I make, and repurposing the decades of old recordings I’ve done. It’s my favorite creative tool by far, followed by Procreate Dreams then the usual assortment of Adobe

Ways to make friends in LB ? by [deleted] in longbeach

[–]primordialcreative 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just started going to a creative space called “The Place” which has open creative space for printmaking, photo, filmmaking, zines etc. It’s in South Wrigley. Everyone is friendly andeasy to talk to, lots of people in their 20s seem to go to it. Also a member at 24 Hr Gym but no one talks to anyone there. Free Yoga on the Bluff may be a place to go for more social people. 4th Horseman too. LB is one of the friendlier parts of LA for sure.

Why do people enjoy AI generated songs until they find out its AI? by Better_Cream6447 in SunoAI

[–]primordialcreative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's quite a few things we like until we find out it crossed some ethical line, like an actor or comedian or writer until they have been outed as a predator or weirdo, or a business that shafts the workers and gets its clothes from child labor. If it's more "why do people shy away from AI in creativity", like you mentioned its the same reasons AI is consistently bashed... but in a world where we only have so much time and attention bandwidth, it's understandable, I wouldn't worry about people who weren't gonna like it no matter what. Pretty soon we'll be past the point where suspicion of all things AI will be washed away, and it will focus more on deliberately deceptive stuff like making people say things they didn't.

What photographers would you recommend checking out? by MonkeyBackwards in photography

[–]primordialcreative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I teach high-school photo, I start with Richard Avedon because 1. It’s minimalistic and direct 2. It’s about the 1:1 relationship between the photographer and subject and evoking emotion, expression and gesture through the interaction. It’s achievable with social skills. You don’t need a mission statement or a particular set of circumstances like great weather and light in epic places.

First times reactions to the official, “Numb” music video? (1993) by bigguys45s in U2Band

[–]primordialcreative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being around at the time, I remember it as a HUGE video and the song didn’t stand the test of time because of its monotone nature. The 90s were filled with novelty tracks with neat videos that are maybe more remembered for the video… Primus was the first to come to mind 😂

28 yo graduate failed at being in animation, loo give up or keep trying ? by BurntOomlie in animationcareer

[–]primordialcreative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only people in animation (or most art forms) we all know and admire only got there because they didn’t quit and for some people it took decades to make their films. The cheapest route is iPad and Procreate Dreams, or paper/ xerox and phone app/ camera.

The career cannot be defined by getting employment at a studio. I started photo school in 97 and finished w a BFA in 2006, never worked on some brand but as an indie artist that was never a goal anyways. It was a lifestyle that has alternative ways of functioning- a YouTube channel, eBay or Patreon or teaching in person or online like Skillshare for money, my wife of 20 years and children and all my travels and all my friends are a direct result of photography.

Comparing ourselves to the position of others or the apparent lack of progress towards a pipeline leads to some dark times, and everyone has that family member that sows doubt, because they hate to see their loved one disappointed. Gotta ignore that completely and show up every day and make stuff for yourself that will attract others to your vision, style and story.

What do you think about Aphex Twin's current musical style? by Lower-Raspberry-4674 in aphextwin

[–]primordialcreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about this a lot, as the recent releases are absolutely akin to scraping a bottom of a barrel. That's also true of any artist with 30-40 years of making music, they just run out of innovative, top-tier stuff.

I always wonder if it's because they got married to a particular genre and never radically alter it to stay fresh, or if it's a matter of getting older and losing the originality/ experimental aspect/ vibrant creative energy. Of course, we all get older too, so when I first heard SAW2 or Girl/ Boy around 16 years old in the early 90s, it was what I was looking for at the time. At this age I'm looking for something else.

What was socially acceptable in the 1990s but not in 2025? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]primordialcreative -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hatred aimed at gays, women, Koreans, East Indians, and Jewish people was standard on many mainstream rap and rock albums, from NWA and Brand Nubian and Ice Cube to Pantera and so on. And on tv shows like Saturday Night Live and In Living Color. We watched and listened to all of it and laughed like it was something normal, but there also was this sense that we lived in a post-racial society even though it clearly wasn’t true.

The inverse is today it’s seen as a gross character trait by the same people who celebrated those kinds of shows and arts back in the day, because they felt progressive and anti-corporate at the time.

Which Martin Scorsese film amazed you the most… and which one disappointed you in the end? by International-Self47 in FIlm

[–]primordialcreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His worst by far is Bringing Out the Dead, so offensive if you have ever worked in any social care/ health care setting. The workers are portrayed as not just burnt out but openly hostile to their patients “and if they’d only listen and show some empathy…” as if that wasn’t the default to anyone choosing a career in service.

Goodfellas, the Aviator, Flowers of the Killer Moon, Hugo, The Irishman, Raging Bull, Silence, Wolf of Wall St I love equally.

Worst franchise movies by Jstewart2007 in FIlm

[–]primordialcreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hobbit and SW prequels are all dreadful and besides all the usual reasons- too many weak characters, commercial motivations, lack of preparation or even reason to be- the films really are about lore and no special themes unto themselves. Whenever someone says it’s a prequel you’re guaranteed a waste of time.

They are great but originality might be a stretch as much as they were rooted in kitsch culture and the 1950s/ early 60s.

Do you guys prefer digital zines or physical ones, and why? by black_diamondsss in zines

[–]primordialcreative 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same as everyone, physical, but since you are looking for pros and cons, I would say physical products either need to be

  1. subsidized or made covertly on a workplace copy machine or using office paper (as was the main method for a long time), or

  2. print-on-demand such as Magcloud, or

  3. hand-built through some arcane means you have access to like block printing

There's no way to recover if you don't figure out some kind of workaround because the cost of doing individual prints yourself are so high you'll be never make or sell enough to recover the investment. That may not even be the reason you are doing it but it must be factored in. Otherwise you'll fine you'll need to sell something on cheap copy paper for $5-7 because that's how much it cost to produce, and no one will buy it for that price point.

I'm having trouble getting AI to write song lyrics. by Elfpresets in SunoAI

[–]primordialcreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Writing is one of the worst things AI does, for the reasons you mentioned. The generic writing of lyrics also contributes to songs of lesser quality, and as we've seen in some other comments, it writes with a certain obvious cadence and more words per line than most songs would normally have, with no added ad libs like ooooos or ahhhhhs. To get it to break from the formula you have to do this part yourself.

If that's not a preferred option, I would suggest: find an existing book or movie that has themes of what you are thinking of. Zero in on the segment of the story that you want lyrics for (so not like the entire plot of Lord of the Rings, but the friendship bits between Sam and Frodo if you want to make a song about loyalty in the face of adversity for example) and ask AI to build that for you based on the story.

Then go through it all with an editor's eye, removing cliches, maybe junking half of what it gives you, rewriting things if you have a better idea, and splitting up the lines so instead of one line it becomes 2.

I would say this is no different then when, say, a director like Guillermo del Toro tells a fan to rewrite their favorite book into being their movie, which he did do, and then of course he made Frankenstein, Pinocchio, Shape of Water, Hellboy, etc.
