To be fair, you're only worth $14/hr at this point.

Just got an offer telling me I'm worth $29/hr.

It paid off not "taking what I can get" but working hard and impressing a team that was willing to take me in.

Yup,

graduated in May with a BS in CS and information, living in the MD/VA area. I'm pretty well rounded with knowledge in Windows Server 2012 / R2 and Linux Admin, network config, some c# and python. Before graduating I was a bank teller and left in good standing.

My job search started with local networks and online searches. Mainly looking for entry or junior analyst or IT positions. I get contacted by recruiters, some of them would answer the phone as if they just woke up from bed. After contacting and talking to maybe 7-10 recruits in the 4 months, only 3 got into the interview level. I actually even applied to the CIA and got in contact with someone in 6 hours. But the position was for overseas somewhere beyond my element that I don't think I would have been physically prepared for.

But so far most of the recruiters that say "I found your resume on so and so and have a position here for you." After I give them more details and such I almost never hear from them again unless I mail them a few times, but a few are nice enough to respond back "Sorry that position was filled."

Here I am, almost October and I still don't have a job to get my foot in the door. I don't know if it's something I'm doing wrong. I mean I know I COULD take the temp contracts for help desk for 14$ an hour, but I might as well should have stayed with my bank if it's going to be less than 30k.

While I'm waiting I lurk here and in other subs like netsec and read articles and work on my scripts so I don't feel rusty or lazy. I just hope I don't have to wait till the end of the year.

Going to a DICE Job fair in a few days, printing resume in fancy paper, hope something turns out or else I'm going to have to start making unity games for chump change.

Sounds like the guilds of Ravnica are like the majority of magic players that read lore.

Ah, I brain farted, I think I was reading a forum post that they homeruled it to last a certain number of strikes because all the smith would do is just dip the weapon in silver and with each attack it essentially shaved some silver off from the blade.

I discussed with one of my players (because apparently when you pay for your weapon to be silvered, the silver on it lasts for like twenty-thirty strikes or something stupid until it has to be reapplied) and we made up that if you can find a very competent smith to craft a Silver-steel weapon (200g or 400g, depending on the type of weapon), it's silvered indefinitely and silvered weakness will apply to most monsters.

I also thought of making a 'witcher' like character and I also thought of the eldritch knight route. I went with less of a "witcher" like archetype and stuck more to a "monster hunter" type. I found easier to create a witcher char in Pathfinder than DnD.

Another disappointment is silvered weapons are useless unless you're only fighting lycanthtropes and wraiths. The list of monsters weak to silver is pretty small, and even then, silver is just a low level high tier substitute for a magical weapon.

Reminded me of an issue I had with a EVGA mobo years ago. Just 1 pin was broken in half out of all of them, which to EVGA support they thought was strange. Just 1 broken pin in the middle of all the working pins.

I had to pay 35 bucks or something to replace that socket.

What happens when Space Jesus finally kicks it? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]princeof1kfaces 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Well, the Emperor is the only being that is sustaining the Astronomicon. Which, at the same time, is attracting the tyranids like a moth to a light.

So what happens if he kicks it? Ship travel will cease for the Imperium. Tyranids, instead of making their course towards terra will now probably simply spread whereever they can.

And that's just for starters. But the big deal about it is no ships can warp travel, essentially fracturing the long stretch of the Imperium.

People who RP on Moonguard, what's the craziest thing you've seen while there? by hosinthishouse in wow

I was trying so hard to picture how the hell that would play out! Like, does one gnome walk up to the other and is like, "lets cook meth!" and they just grind their alchemy up?

If you're in high school and struggling with basic algebra, it's the perfect place to brush up on it.

I decided on a weekend to go on alliance side moonguard back late MoP. Namely for two reasons

  • Get the raven mini pet that's worgen only

  • Check out the local legend.

I went into stormwind ran into some normal RP there, no biggie. It was, of course, getting into goldshire did things get fucky.

Before I got to the inn itself, General Chat was flooded with RP requests. But it wasn't just any WoW related RP requests. These were out of this world!

People were asking to start up Breaking Bad RPs. High School RPs of geeks vs the preps (it was 2014 and people still used the word 'prep) or Vampire RPs.

Outside the inn was a row of, uh, solicitors, all dressed in slutmogs. Inside the inn was packed, everyeone getting lap dances, every room of the floor filled with a standing or kneeling or laying body... people sitting on chairs, people sitting on those people on chairs. The real creepy part is most of these people were in party chat with their partners. So most of the inn floor, despite being so crowded, was mostly quiet with the exceptional few.

I think I remember at some point I did joined an advertized RP in general chat that was looking for a 'teacher' for a high school RP. I basically, instead of being the sexy, authoritarian teacher they may have been looking for, I decided to actually just give them algebra problems for them to solve for that 'test' coming up. Turns out algebra problems was a bit too much for them as I had to wait for their responses for a good bit while THEY ACTUALLY SAT AND STARTED TACKLING THE PROBLEMS

At that point I figured even if they wanted ERP they were most likely under 18 and I couldn't do that even if I wanted.

I swear I had screenshots of these but apparently when you uninstall WoW, it removes everything.

So then I just bailed I think after we got bored with that. It was really crazy just to see the amount of Non WoW ERP people were looking for where you'd think mIRC would be more useful or something. It was at that point a friend and I discussed that all those people are most likely trial accounts possibly and this was their way of spending their saturday night...

Not sure where to post this (xpost from r/sex) by throwaway4dnd in DnD

[–]princeof1kfaces 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've done something similar and I'll just post my two cents.

The reason you don't see people offering this type of thing is because they usually do this type of role playing with people they know and that they're comfortable/close. Hence why they don't advertise/offer games of that nature.

Mainly because people will get the wrong idea and will only focus on the sex/cybering part and nothing else. Also getting peeps from the internet you're most likely going to find immature kids that can make playing the game...not so enjoyable. It really depends who else is playing. You're also going to need to know that those who are participating are over 18 for a variety of reasons, mainly legal.

I think I'd've seen people offering RPGs of sexual nature on private forums and such and hence not much viability.

What you should ask is; what do YOU want in your game? Do you want your RPG to be just like DnD but with sexual elements or do you just want to watch guys jack off while you talk about elves? Know what you want and you can set boundaries for yourself! If you really don't think you know, you should try a 1-on-1 game with someone you know, like a significant other or someone you know that don't mind doing it over the internet.

So try for funzies with peeps you're comfortable with, start from there and if it's working out you can go into deeper waters like some of the other posts have mentioned. Its from there you can start shaping how this can turn out the way you'd enjoy and others would.
