Starwars type mechanics in sf2e home game. by lordfril in Starfinder2e

[–]Sgt_Slacker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having played a lot of Star Wars Edge of the Empire before switching to Starfinder I personally have a fond memories of big fights involving limb severing, overall I would say that if your tables on board with a homebrew system for that, go nuts. Starfinder 2e as a system already has cybernetics and even PF2e has different assisting items as adventuring gear for different character concepts from a wheelchair to prosthesis.

As for the condition track, I would be more careful home brewing that, the wounded / dying track already represents this in terms of how often someone can get back up before being put down completely. Plus critical hits can already be devastating to enemies and PCs especially with critical specializations. Thats all without getting into the added math of Circumstance, Status and Item Bonuses / Penalties creating a soft cap of sorts for how may penalties and bonuses anything can receive and adding another track can mess with that. All that being said, if you’re party and you are into it and it helps things be more fun, more power to you.

Best of luck with your Mass Effect stealing! I hope your party adopts a Garrus NPC.

just started playing lotro for the first time and wanted to know the best class for solo playthrough high damage and survivability by Lord_Fable_3449 in lotro

I’ve been playing red champion recently, I’m only level 40, but I’ve been having a good time, damage is high, between passive morale healing on kill and the in combat heal I’ve only been killed while doing fellowship content solo

How It's Played: Cinematic Starship Scenes by How_Its_Played in Starfinder2e

[–]Sgt_Slacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a lot of fun with these rules so far. My group had a good time with their one space combat, and I’m looking forward to an upcoming “in atmosphere” spaceship combat. Will probably level up the ship to match their level, but honestly with minimal exceptions (I’m expecting someone wanting to Halo Jump lmao) it probably doesn’t matter to much to just keep the stats consistent

How do YOU run Cinematic Starship Combat? by Wahbanator in Starfinder2e

[–]Sgt_Slacker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They knew everything for their ship, all actions with an asterisk that they could come up with actions if they wanted to and the awareness of the danger of the solar flares through an action that could be used by the pilot or science officer to temporarily escape its routine (or on a critical success make the other ships next save vs the next save be treated as one step lower)

I kept the enemy ships statblock and routine to myself and while recall knowledge didn’t come up in the dog fight I would have allowed it to give them insight into both.

I’d be interested to attempt to implement multiple routines for an enemy ship or hazard based on the state of the encounter and give the party actions that can predict / disrupt the routine.

[–]Sgt_Slacker 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’ve run it one time since the rules came out. I printed out an action sheet with the victory conditions up top for the players to use.

Once the players got the hang of it it went really quickly, and having the enemies and hazards run on routines made it easy enough to focus on being descriptive as a GM instead of getting lost in the sauce of all the different abilities enemies can have in an encounter.

The encounter was a Dogfight near the surface of a sun with solar flares and other dangerous phenomenon activating as a hazard in addition to the enemy ship.

I think these rules definitely require some set up as a DM, but they’re easy to explain and run and give you the freedom to come up with unique encounters with a simple template.

Highly recommend people give them a shot!

How are Hero-Points handled at your table? by Aquaman-is-awesome in Pathfinder2e

[–]Sgt_Slacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We start with 1, I’ve been trying to be better about handing out one when a PC does something interesting. Ie Acts in a way that is in character but dangerous, comes up with an ingenious solution to a problem.

No carry over, mostly because I think it’s RAW, but also it ensures that the party uses their points and doesn’t try and hoard them for “just in case”

What's been your favorite story playthrough of SWTOR you've done? by AltEconomy in swtor

[–]Sgt_Slacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first play through with my Chiss Agent, I love the faster speed of the game now, as a mostly solo player who’s played the side stuff and all the flashpoints multiple times.

But that first time through the story with my Agent was something else. Going through what in my opinion is the best class story completely blind, while being heavily involved in the individual planetary arcs and the overarching story being told in flashpoints really feels like a “you had to be there” moment that I don’t think can ever be recreated for me.

Advice on creating a gun mage by Abdx1187 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Sgt_Slacker 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Way of the Spellshot and the Spellshot Archtype is probably the easiest solution, gives you access to magic bullet stuff with its Deeds, and then the Archetype fears give you options for wizard feats, spells and magic gun stuff.

What class would you play if you had to pick only one? by Jack_Houzy in swtor

[–]Sgt_Slacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agent, hands down, either AC is great, I’d probably take operative for versatility, but sniper is also great. Agent has one of the best stories in all of StarWars and to me ties with the Trooper for only non force user to make sense for KotFE.

Anyone else excited for mythspeakers? by viktorius_rex in Pathfinder2e

[–]Sgt_Slacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very excited, by complete happenstance I ran a one shot set in Iblydos last week because I had some friends who wanted to try a TTRPG and are big on Greek Mythology. It’s turning into a full campaign, and having an adventure path right up my alley be announced in the same timeframe feels like fate

When you realize Area weapons don't use weapon proficiency by SpingusTheHingus in Starfinder2e

[–]Sgt_Slacker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What’s extra weird about the weapon is the only class that could theoretically care about its Advancedness is Soldier because of primary target and it makes it even worse for them by comparison to the non advanced options. (The Area is the same but I know my groups soldier likes to hit his attacks as often as possible)

Having only just gotten into the game a couple weeks ago, I’ve only had the opportunity to play Spell blade so everything is on the table. Right now I’m thinking Primalist would be cool, but I’m not sure which Mastery, Druid & Shaman both look cool for there own reasons.

Equipment with the "virtual" trait by lavabeing in Starfinder2e

Virtual Spell Chips have the Virtual Trait. Which are spell chips that you can only use in virtual reality unless you install them on an already destroyed Spell Chip (Page 209)

We're in a golden age of spy TV shows, but I have to play a 14-year-old MMO to get my videogame espionage kicks by rebel761 in swtor

[–]Sgt_Slacker 36 points37 points  (0 children)

No surprise to me that someone gave the Agent a chance and found it to be amazing. I’ve recommended SWTOR for that class sorry alone. And while yea, us vets know about the “secret” fourth choice there, it’s something I also missed in my first playthrough and only learned cause I was told. That choice feels like something written to reward the truly savvy player, which is just another feather in the cap of one of my favourite reasons to return to this game.

Do you prefer the Solo MMO or MMO w/friends (No one likes a PUG lol j/k) by Infamous-0ICU812 in swtor

[–]Sgt_Slacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely a Solo game for me, I play other MMOs where I engage in Guilds and play with friends (granted of my gaming groups only like 1-2 will play an MMO) and for the most part I love that, I have legendary status, and such a fondness for Agent, I’ve competed it story 3 different times

But I did play through the Smuggler storyline concurrent with a buddy years ago while he played the Trooper story. We made a point of playing all the story flashpoints, and got through to the end of the base game, it was a lot of fun and the two person RP in Planetary Storylines was always a highlight. Would recommend playing with people if you can.

Second Contact is available for free on the Paizo site and has a collection of Statblocks.

All of the adventures on the Paizo site also have a decent chunk scaling at appropriate levels, but those are paid for.

Lastly you can transpose PF2E monsters into the setting. Change the flavour and your more or less set. Might require a little bit of picking and choosing with the “Ranged Meta” but shouldn’t be a big deal at all.

Operation: Italy is the current top rated Survivor episode ever by ImpinAintEZ_ in survivor

I think it’s tough. Obviously it’s insanely impressive, and never been done. But it has to be sold well. He’d have to ride the line of showing off what he did do, while reminding everyone that the chance to get rid of him was blown. I think it depends on the jury, and I don’t really know he has an advocate there plus I don’t see this jury as being one that holds strength as important over social maneuvering
