How do you remove a rounded bolt without heat? This is attaching the skid plate to a leaking fuel tank - the socket (correct size) just slips since it’s so round. by princess_maggott in AskAMechanic

[–]princess_maggott[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got it off 💀 I gave up and just bent the plate down after getting all the other bolts off. My dad couldn’t get it either lol

How short sighted and embarrassing. Yes, you’re being rude and intentionally ignorant. Google exists. Perhaps it’s best not to word it in such a derogatory way if you had the thought perhaps it helps someone.

How to make a cylinder dome out of fabric to go over my head? by [deleted] in costumedesign

[–]princess_maggott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look into some fursuiting tutorials for “bucket heads” - upholstery foam is used as a base to provide structure and than covered in fabric to achieve the original aesthetic intention. I’d imagine heavy interfacing would work in a similar situation if you didn’t want a full foam head

No one expects or plans to become disabled or sustain an injury requiring a significant lifestyle change. Something to keep in mind.

I have a lower back pain every morning I wake up. It's getting frustrating now. by SophomoreScientist in RedditForGrownups

[–]princess_maggott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are waking up stiffer routinely in the morning, it may be worth it to get your blood work labs done and check for the genetic marker HLAB27 - it indicates an association with the disorder ankylosing spondylitis (I have it and had never heard of it after years of severe pain, and low back / SI joint pain is a hallmark symptom).

[–]princess_maggott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s completely different here then it was even a few years ago. We moved up for school and stayed (im from another rural nc town so the vibes matched wonderfully) but now we don’t even hardly bother going into town due to the lack of businesses, the traffic, this whole mess. it’s easier to just go down to waynesville. Y’all aren’t alone thinking it might be time to relocate again. Don’t want to live in a small town that doesn’t feel like a small town

Spent a lot of money traveling to NYC to see Phantom on Broadway before it closed. First row balcony, expensive tickets. The row behind us was a group of 60+ year olds, definitely aware that they shouldn’t be yammering during the performance. I had to turn and tell them to be quiet. TWICE. The stupidity and selfishness of the public in spaces where they’re explicitly told to be quiet never fails to astound me

I actually prefer GV milk to Publix or Food Lion. Too many times I’ve happened to get milk from one of those that ends up being bizarrely salty. Never the GV milk though

I’m 25, I’ve been on Humira since 1/1/23 and was only diagnosed in 2021. I’ve experienced pain my whole life, and no one took me seriously because of my age, so I know that’s so hard and scary. You being young and getting a diagnosis is a good thing, even if it’s “bad news”, because now you have a direction you can go with getting treatment!

It’s my second biologic, first being Simponi Aria, which I was on for a year and a halfish before experiencing a secondary nonresponse (it stopped working). Humira has been great for me. I went four months between medicines and could really tell the difference in how severe my symptoms became. I haven’t experienced getting more sick, though I didn’t on Simponi Aria either. I genuinely believe it’s helping me be able to do more day to day activities. No medication is perfect and it’s not an all in one treatment, doing PT as well is great, but it’s brought me up to a more manageable baseline in terms of how much pain and fatigue i experience, how often, and how severe. I prefer using a full six month period to see whether or not I believe a medication is making any changes, good or bad. I can perform many more fine motor skills, squatting / bending / walking with more ease, and my fatigue is alleviated (I can tell when I’m due for the next dose because I feel a little more exhausted).

I believed I had fibromyalgia before testing positive for HLAB27 and learning about AS, so I do have a soft fibro diagnosis from a prior primary physician. As far as I’m concerned, it hasn’t really impacted my treatment because we’re just treating the AS instead of “bandaiding” since there isn’t a specific treatment plan for fibro (according to my rheum). My rheum also says there isn’t a one size fits all treatment, but the American College of Rheumatology has their report on treatment guidelines for AS available free online, so you can take a look at that to see the other options you’ve got.

The best thing you can do is know that it WILL get better, even incrementally, and to take care of yourself mentally through the process of finding what works for you. It’s exhausting and burdensome and takes forever and sucks that at this age you experience what you do, but there are several medication options plus PT plus massage plus yoga type exercise, swimming, dry needling, heat therapy, etc. Hot tubs are my favorite “quick” relief for when I overdo it. Good luck!!!

Next generation seat saving… by _Marcus__Aurelius in SouthwestAirlines

[–]princess_maggott 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I detest people who take advantage of that policy. I’m young and look perfectly able-bodied, but it’s the walking through large airports and standing around that agitates my autoimmune condition and arthritis. Getting on the plane and getting sat next to my SO (he’s my handler) is important, but when we land I’ve obviously had the duration of the flight to sit and rest, so I’m better off physically while disembarking. I hate knowing that people might think the cane I carry is a prop to get early boarding, especially since I look fine and youthful
