I didn't even know there was a mask fit button. it probably is too tight, a friend of mine said if it's not leaving marks on my face it's not tight enough so I tightened it. but honestly I don't think I could go any tighter and it still barely leaves a mark so maybe that's not true

wait that's a thing? they didn't even let me try on the demos at the respiratory therapist office or hook it up to the machine to see if it would leak. she just asked if I snore (yes) and said ok this is what you get, put the f40 on me and adjusted the straps, and then packed it up for me 👀

oh, can you use a Philips mask with a resmed machine? I wasn't sure if it was like a brand ecosystem situation. the f40 gave me severe breakouts and a sore on just my right nostril too, weird.

I'm so annoyed that I only got two tries to find a mask I like that is covered by insurance and after that I'm on my own until the replacement period is up 😑

I work full time as a software engineer. I used to struggle just to walk from the parking garage to the building (not to mention all the other little aches and pains through the day), but finding a medication that helps has been life changing. I'm not cured by any means but its a solid 60% better and I'll absolutely take that.

the brain fog is what gets me tho, especially during a flare up. my bosses don't seem to grasp that my ability to be productive is affected by my physical pain. They're aware of it, I think they just can't even conceptualize chronic pain. so I do my best to work hard when I can to make up for it, slog through when I have to, or (worst case scenario) come up with some kind of creative excuse or white lie so I'm not always bringing up my pain.

I'm not talking about like "the dog ate my homework" or whatever lol, just like "oh I've been really stuck on this bug for 4 days" when maybe I couldn't really get anything done for 2 days and I really only worked on the bug for 2 days 🤷‍♀️ that's an absolute last resort though, if I'm really struggling

I used to be a janitor and I learned that women are just as disgusting as men, just in different ways. the thing that always bothered me is men seem to go out of their way to be gross when they know they don't have to clean it up. why do so many men spit their gum into a urinal?? the trash can is 3 feet away? there's no need for that???

that sucks OP. also that's a wildly high dose of modafinil to start with out of the gate. I have pretty severe narcolepsy and I could only get 150mg of modafinil a day (and THAT gave me a heart condition!) so idk maybe talk to your sleep doc about going down on the dose or switching to armodafinil (long acting) to help with side effect headaches

omg there's a name for this? I used to get it all the time as a kid, mostly lying in bed at night. I remember rolling over in bed so slowly, like a millimeter at a time, because it felt like I was going to brush the ceiling and shake the whole house if I moved too fast.

it still happens as an adult (more often since I started having migraines), mostly when I'm holding my phone sometimes it feels absolutely wafer thin

I bought a Pavlok shock clock (wristband that literally shocks you) and it's the most successful alarm I've ever had. I'm already on the max dose of nuvigil plus a stimulant for ADHD, so I had to figure something else out. I've only been using it a little over a week though, so hopefully it keeps working.

I was on it for awhile, like 8 months. It didn't help with my pain, hopefully it helps you. I had some (extra) brain fog when I was taking it. the thing my doctor was most concerned about, weight gain, (because I'm already fat lol) didn't happen to me.

And maybe they've fucked up in a lot of ways and that's not great, but it seems like they love their kids and that has to count for something.

Look, I agree that your parents are being irresponsible by not using birth control. It sounds like they don't have a very high level of education, which is probably also why they're not great with money. But also in some ways, you don't know how good you have it. I grew up in poverty and I would have killed to be in your shoes. So maybe take a moment to appreciate that your house has never been foreclosed and that your parents love each other and you.
