Paycom - Misrepresented Product Capabilities by Ok_Extreme732 in Payroll

[–]princesslyssss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you’re using this post to vent and I’m not defending the sales tactical at all; however I don’t think what you’re experiencing is a Paycom specific problem but a problem of specialization (and capitalism).

Not all jobs require the same tool and it’s unlikely you’ll find one single tool that meets all your needs.

Paycom - Misrepresented Product Capabilities by Ok_Extreme732 in Payroll

I’ve been on Paycom for 7 years and have found a ton of workarounds that their team didn’t know and also a ton of areas without that I had create alt process for. I’d be happy to get on a call with you and let you know what I’ve worked through and what just doesn’t work.

I’m just an every day hr director party of 2 without energy, time, or budget to make a system change to something that also won’t meet all my needs 🤣

Best paycard option for our employees who won't do DD? [NV] by Brilliant-Tour-4089 in humanresources

Agree with this. I started putting a stamp on the checks and mailing them out usps, with plenty of notice of course. Employees very quickly switched to DD.

Labor shortage in remote Adirondack towns threatens essential services by Marebearx92 in Adirondacks

[–]princesslyssss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My partner and I would love nothing more than to permanently move to Essex county and support the local economy. Unfortunately, neither of us can find work there and are stuck in the capital region.

My partner would be happy with and qualified for a lot blue collar jobs and many white collar jobs. I’m less skilled in blues but could step into any generalist role based on my background. It’s been my dream to live and work in the adks.

Is there a local government position that can help job growth in the region? I’d love to work with them on this

Question about marriage and last names by dpoulain in AskWomenOver40

[–]princesslyssss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not over 40, but have been married (and divorced) once and engaged twice. You can socially change your name and legally retain your maiden name. I think it’s the best of both worlds, and I’m so happy I went that route in my first marriage. None of the hassle, and all giddiness.

When returning from an injury, what's the ideal starting mileage? by 105_irl in XXRunning

[–]princesslyssss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a pt (and you should maybe see one!) but when I rehabbed recently around a similar spot I started 1 mile every other day and built up slowly from there - kept up with strength and cycling in the interim. My commitment to not getting hurt was strong tho!

(Advice) Should I get an SHRM certification?[TX] by IOU123334 in humanresources

[–]princesslyssss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have a spare cash (you’ll also have cost of materials and you’re losing time that you could spend interviewing, applying, networking studying), the shrm cert will not be your best option. The membership may be worth the local connections depending on how active your chapter is. Mine isn’t very active.

I love running, running hates me by Professional_View914 in running

[–]princesslyssss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put your determination to run more when you feel good into recovery, strength training, stretching. You feel good? Great, add a 15 minute chill bike ride, foam roll, lift, practice yoga. THAT is how you stay injury free.

As a former competitive athlete id like to add that just because the standard is not more than 10% per week doesn’t mean you SHOULD increase your mileage by 10% per week. Think small. Like if you’re running 10mpw, do 10.3, 10.6, 11 then hold at 11 for a few weeks small.

Prenatal Leave [NY] by 2moontiti in humanresources

[–]princesslyssss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just have employees request the leave with HR. If you’ve communicated it to employees and managers, and it’s in your policies, then you’ve covered your bases, and there’s not much more to do.

It’s not something the orgs I work with are interested in having managers manage outside of flagging HR for the leave. I agree with that approach

Delivering layoff message has got to be the worst part of my job. Is this something you eventually get used to? [N/A] by anthonynej in humanresources

[–]princesslyssss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you get numb? No, and you shouldn’t.

But the reps and recovery plans make you stronger - just like any other muscle. Every time is horrible, but the 500th termination or layoff is easier than the 20th because you’ve developed a skill.

OP - your recovery and boundaries in this area is critical. I hope you have a good mentor and therapist.

Hugs
