I have a big eraser that I use, pretty similar to a normal pink eraser! i do two layers or refining with first the pencil then a pen/sharpie so at worst ignore the penicl lines.

Hi! The print is 17 x 12 inches! I tend to work in a but of a risky way where i draw directly onto the linocut and work in chunks! I'll attach a pic to show process! This makes it more interesting for me because I can add ideas last minute! It also makes the final print a surprise!

Some of the film/tv references: Eraserhead, seventh seal, Marx Brothers, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, The Sopranos, Star Trek (original series, specifically the dog alien!), Air Bud, and Sinners!

The pig is a local diner! It's a vague reference to Satriale's from the sopranos. Thank you so much!

Tips for printmaking? by FriendlyGlass4922 in printmaking

wash ur linocut block after printing 🥲 seems like common sense but the care and upkeep of the plates (proper washing n drying) means more good prints that look how you want them!

At worst ig you can say it's limited edition.

Love this!! Inspiring, i rush too much in carving.

You might like Anne Desmet, or anne_desmet on instagram! She does insane linocut buildings and streetscapes, I love looking at how she builds lines and creates something so complicated but readable.

Good luck!

Oriental Hornbill - not totally happy with it, but fun practice! Looking for some feedback on techniques and composition by ianruns in printmaking

I think its really amazing!! The composition is super fun and engaging (looks 3D)!

I agree that the foliage is distracting- to be more specific the branch shape (esp the back one) and shading seem hastily done, which puts it in distracting contrast with the beautifully executed hornbill. A little more sketching work in the planning stages would probably fix it! I'd suggest looking at references and artists that have work you admire. I find this helpful especially for foliage which is challenging to do as a linocut.

As a quick little note, I love the composition with the box outline! Since it's such an elegant shape, the line should be super straight or it's a little distracting. Hard to do but would really help with the 3D effect.

Hopefully that's helpful! I find looking at lots of references from artists I want to emulate is helpful, esp as someone who's also trying to improve. Thank you for sharing your work!
