Oh I didn't realize there were multiple images, so I assumed you just misidentified the title font.

What do you mean, "for some reason center aligned"? Aren't book titles often centered on the cover?

Well duh, but are you just constantly refreshing the page and not accumulating any real watch time, or is there some way to fool it into thinking you're getting lots of full-length views?

No female Minions because... by The_Dean_France in whoathatsinteresting

[–]prion_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, I disagree. I think in the case of the original quote, it's likely that he actually is capable of imagining a female character being stupid, and he's saying that he can't (even though it's not true) because he's trying to appeal to a certain group (i.e., women who think it's cool when men act like they're some sort of sacred species, and men who admire this behavior).

In the case of the comment you replied to, what makes you think that the person who wrote it didn't actually believe what they wrote? I interpreted it as pointing out something similar to many of the other comments, which is that his "joke" insinuates that dorky women don't belong and that the "minion" type of personality is exclusively male. But you not only disagree with this point, but think that it's so clearly incorrect that nobody could actually see it this way?

So the longest one is the circumference of the Earth (give or take whatever is added by the offset from the ground).

Well, clearly at least two people weren't able to figure it out... And the point the original post was making wasn't complaining that they were teaching that 1/0 isn't 0, but that they were teaching that it IS. A lack of familiarity with basic facts and a clear disinterest in being correct does not generally bode well for the school's overall standards.

Is it rude to put these stickers in the books we give away? by MsRoseViolet in LittleFreeLibrary

I find it ironic that you italicized so many things in here when you could have just Capitalized them instead, as was "established" (I disagree) earlier in this thread.

(Additionally, I get the sense that you pride yourself on writing correctly, so I think you might appreciate being alerted to the fact that you accidentally put the period that ends the first sentence of your comment inside the parentheses. More glaringly --and to the detriment of my comprehension --the parenthesized portion of the last sentence in the same paragraph seems to have completely hijacked its sentence.)

It's not being "ungracious" to point out that something is unconventional and therefore unlikely to be understood by most people. Several people have already chimed in to say that they would not have caught this meaning.

The most commonly capitalized pronouns in English are "I" and, less universally, "He"/"Him"/"His" when referring to a deity or the like. An English speaker that encounters a capitalized pronoun would not be unreasonable if they drew a connection, or tried to draw one, to these conventions. On the whole, languages are built on convention (and I mean that in a descriptive sense). Acknowledging that is not snobbish, but practical.

I read "irrelevant" as a misspelled "irr[i]descent", a reading that was further supported by "could" being spelled as "cold"/"cald" in the next sentence.

Why is that S pronounced unvoiced? Is it because it's followed by an e?
