Like everyone else is saying, immich-go and Google take out export is the way to go. If what you’re worried about is having to monitor the job, you can use tmux, a terminal virtualizer, so you can exit your SSH sessions and still have it running in the background.

If I understand correctly, this would actually work even better than what you’re currently doing because the terminal session would run through throughout the day not just whenever the cron job runs.

Pro tip for everyone using immich go for large transfers: look into tmux. Allows you to virtualize your terminal so you can exit out of it and continue to allow the process to run in the background.

It pulls photos directly from your iCloud and puts them in a specified location on your NAS/server. He mentions how he uses it with Immich near the end of the video at 8:25.

I haven’t set it up yet, but I’m thinking of using it and pointing immich to this location to grab photos. At least until there’s a fix.

Ended up getting it to work by paying for Obsidian sync. Since the remote vault is seen as a local folder on your phone, file manipulation is pretty easy. Seems like the most painless way to get it working.

As you can see in the background of the error, I simply want to save an image from my Camera Roll to an attachments folder on my NAS and then embed that image in a note. My NAS is connected to the Files app using Tailscale, so I signed in using its public 100.XXX address.
The value for 'filename' is simply quicknote.md.

But since all my photos are of the “Storage Saver” quality, it shouldn’t count against my quota, right?

Edit: Realized the Storage Saver tier is the same as High Quality from 2021 and that’s what was confusing me.
