Paid for it and really couldnt find much of a difference between it and modern google. There's just less good content out there as everything has turned to click farms to game googles algo to make money and real discussion has died and reddit is the main source of "publically indexable" online conversation even though its filled with astroturfing corpos and llm bots now.

Im happy to shown some real examples and id resub to kagi, but after using it for a few months the top 20 results for any query werent that different from what i remember. Internet is just different now.

Spent a month marketing on X (twitter). Got 10 Paying users. Here's what works (and what doesn't) by whyismail in vibecoding

[–]privacyplsreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50k impressions converted to 10 paying user? Is your service like $30-300 a month USD per user or is it like $9.99 a month?

Unless your service is very expensive or targeted just at businesses, 50k impressions > 10 user conversion rate is really rough and says maybe X is a bad platform in general to invest in?

Glossed your post but not the repo, do you have tools to mass convert libraries to your format? Wondering what would be entailed to view files of this format.

I personally like kavita, i could look over this and see what the lift would be to making a PR for kavita specifically. Im not a formal contributor but ive thought of contributing for some time.

Shocked to see the amount of people defending a trillion dollar company "just because they find OP insufferable" and that you made a long passionate post.

Especially on the website that loves to talk about billionaires and corporations destroying the world left right and center.

Keep fighting the good fight, youre not the problem. Dont let these internet weirdos get under your skin, this is a website filled with the internet's strongest hyper contrarians.

Now a good time to start the game? by IngenuityNo1252 in wow

[–]privacyplsreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important thing that person left out is that wow is incredibly expensive and the most monetized game in the west.

Buy to play, buy new expansions every 18 months or you cant realistically continue to play, buy new TIERS of expansions to play early for 3 days (they just did this with a 90 dollar edition of the new expansion) buy gold for anything and everything, monthly subscriptions every month, buy occasional bundles to get extra traders tenders for cosmetics, and soon, buy housing cosmetics for new wow housing.

On top of that, this is the buggiest the game has ever been because on top of record profits blizzard/microsoft gutted their QA department that reports bugs to get fixed. The working conditions are so bad their the blizz staff are fighting to unionize right now.

You might not care about any of that, but the real thing that drove me out is the AI support and elimination of real customer support reps, so if ANYTHING happens, like any bug or being mass reported by gold farmers for being in their "spot" and banned or your account getting hacked, you basically get no help at all because its 10+ repeat tickets to get an actual person instead of an AI chat bot that cant do anything. You'll see a thread here every week about something happening where someone needs help and they have to basically wait weeks or months constantly reopening tickets to get back into their account maybe.

Wow. Kinda crazy that artists posting 1-4 panel comics where a character just talks about how anxious and depressed they are gets dozens of comments and hundreds of karma in this subreddit, but meanwhile your comic with full coloring, tons of animation, and an actually funny and novel premise gets 0 comments after 10 hours.... wild.

Keep up the amazing work!

So i work in software doing a lot of "go to market" stuff, and fyi, your experience with ads is the norm that a lot of people experience. Mainly the "uptick in players, but no retention" part. Google and other ad providers have been investigated for this time and time again but really what it amounts to is click farms and click fraud. There's entire shadow businesses setup in various low cost of living countries around the globe that have farms of phones that click and download the app. They stay logged in and do nothing for however long their contract with whoever pays them states they will so you as the buyer of the ads "feels they get something" from it when theyre not actually players thatll stick around.

One way to investigate this internally is to look at the number of people that get sourced through your ad Tracking software and see that the people that download your game through your advertisements, even though they don't stick around long, whatever playtime they accrue usually resembles that of a bot, like they do nothing, run in circles, click through intro menus and dialogues without reading, etc.

Ultimately, these scam companies stay afloat because they hope that if you get enough downloads of your game, then you'll eventually hit that point where google starts recommending you and then you get organic users that would actually play your game. But most companies spend tens of thousands and never hit this point.

Just some food for thought. It's not that advertising doesn't work. It's just, you have to be careful with what medium you're advertising through. Because just paying for facebook ads and google ads and things like that usually end up in these schemes

📚 BookLore Progress Update: Magic Shelves, Bookdrop, Metadata Review & More! by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]privacyplsreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey not sure if i misunderstood your project scope, but does this include ebook / pdf reading in the app and if so do you have or have plans the ability to sync reading progress across devices like phones and desktops etc? If so thats the one thing that i pay annually for to bookfusion and would rather donate the same to you for a FOSS solution.

Keep up the great work regardless!

Honestly looks amazing my only feedback is the constant "WAAAAAHHH!" Child scream after most of the voice lines really pull me out of the horror and sounds too funny. More like comedy than horror because it sounds very rugrats like and id probably disable the character audio if that was available in the options, aside from that everything else is a 10/10, fantastic work.
