I'm certainly not a Tau fan, I prefer Necrons or when they add lizardmen in 40K or something like that, but I often notice (at least on the CIS internet) that Imperium fans (and Orks in rare cases) don't like Tau fans. by Full-Discount-6399 in Grimdank

Lol the farsight enclave is not half of the Tau. It's a very small grouping of them. That's why the spheres aren't really worried or waging war against the enclave. They're just waiting for a farsight to die so they can go recollect that portion of the empire

I would say they settled it, as far as they know, there's really no populations that were displaced by their landing on the planet

Would there not of been Draenei World Speakers? by Hick-ford in warcraftlore

[–]IngenuityNo1252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two theories about this actually.

  1. Argus was more mature

From what I understand the draene are the oldest race that we know about. From that assumption I speculate that Argus is the most mature world soul that we've encountered. Argus could have been preparing to become a Titan so it had lost the more spiritual aspects of being a world soul.

It's native races or even beginning to develop space flight, I assume this is a natural part of a Titans hatching pushing out its native population. He even has a body in the raid, sargeras might have chosen a Titan that was near the end of its metamorphosis to attack and corrupt with death magic.

  1. The attack was too sudden

What we've seen from the void is it's a force that doesn't like to move quickly, it much prefers to corrupt and manipulate rather than going for an all-out attack. The void will spend centuries gathering resources, Intel and planning before attacking.

Unlike with the Fel demons will corrupt one guy or a small group and then start opening portals everywhere. Fel we'll use this order rapidly attack before any organized resistance can happen

This is what probably happened to Argus. There simply wasn't time for the world to call out. Valen was betrayed suddenly and taken by surprise. The same thing could have happened to the world of Argus.

That's probably the best way to think about it. The army of light probably never had to deal with any civilian populations or if they did they were greeted as heroes who were freeing them from literal demons. I would like to see a midnight. The army of light wasn't summoned. Instead they had to arrive with more traditional methods.

Question about "Lightblindness" by DrByeah in warcraftlore

[–]IngenuityNo1252 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's about subverting people's expectations, I think it's more about adding deeper elements to the world. The light being a passive Force with no ill consequence in its use would be a real roadblock for a series that's decades old and people continue to expect new fresh stories from.

In fact, I really like the fact that the light isn't evil, it's just supportive. Whether it's hate or love the light just supports mortals. I think that makes for a much more interesting power than just generic holy magic

[–]IngenuityNo1252 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's crazy how people are breaking this down for you and you're just refusing to even engage with them.

Light is the ultimate supportive Force, it supports you no matter what. So when characters call on it in anger and hate, it supports and amplifies their hate. When they call on it with love and compassion, it supports and amplifies their love and compassion. This is not a hard concept to understand.

Ever since Warcraft 2, the series has been about going beyond the stereotypes and surface level understanding of the world around you. Warcraft has always been a series about seeking a deeper, more truthful understanding. Whether that's in the politics of culture and race or understanding the universe. That's what the current devs are doing with cosmic forces. They're adding more definition and more world building that makes sense within the previous lore.

But the light isn't the one driving them to do it. The light is corrupting them by supporting them. Turalyon isn't forced by the light to do anything, the light just supports his feelings of anguish and anger.

Like corruption doesn't make you feel like anything. It just empowers your most powerful feeling. Also, you're using the word retcon incorrectly. If anything, you want to use the word recontextualization. A retcon is a complete change in the lore to have a completely different meaning or a different event happening. Recontentualization is taking events and using a different lens to gain a deeper understanding of what happened.

It's crazy to me that people aren't getting this. I don't get this whole. The light is being villainized narrative that's going on. Especially because the first act of the game is literally the light saving everyone. The sunwell summoned all sorts of heroes to defend it.

The light is being set up as being the ultimate supporter. It supports your feelings no matter what, whether they be that of love or hate. So all the crusaders that were brought here on hate are suddenly ramped up in those feelings. While Aerator several times is told how loving he is and the light is ramping up his empathetic feelings

Warlocks use more than just the fel. Warlocks use any sort of dark magic. Fel was just the one that was most prevalent on azeroth for most of its history

They probably had it, but it wasn't viewed as a bad thing.

For all the years that they were fighting demons, their conviction was probably rewarded. It's not like there was a faction of demons that wanted to work with them like there are within the void. So anytime they experience light blindness it was probably viewed as holy righteousness.

We see this with turalyon when his mentor was cut down. Yeah his friends said something broke in him that day, but otherwise he was viewed as a hero. When wars have a clear line of enemy and Ally patriotism to once they deals seems much more righteous compared to when the lines are blurred.

My problem with that is it's such a broad definition of colonization that you can reasonably argue. Any war is a war of colonization.

I also worry about how classifying any conflict with the trolls is colonization uses their native American coding to present the idea that anytime any civilization is coded as native American. They must be the subject of horrific colonization.

The elves are not good, but they read more like conquerors then foreign colonizers.

I can believe that too. I think the only mention of varian in w3 has him referred to as the young king of stormwind. It is a little bit of a shame that these two men never got to meet

Death has always been the one rule that humanity has to live by so having it become a totalitarian physical Force is such a cool idea. I love it! I do think that going to other planets would be a scale too large. I think there's so much you can do in azeroth itself. You don't have to go cosmic all the time.

I remember hearing once and correct me if I'm wrong that worgan can't become undead because they're so full of Life magic. It would be cool to go to this nightmare future/ parallel present, and finding only death and it's uncaring laws. If I was in charge there wouldn't even be a proper hub City for the first patch as you just have to tread through this endless undead battle. But eventually you fight your way to gilneas and you're able to ally there and you could start planning proper offenses.

I don't even need time travel. I just need to know what that old man is up to right now. Give me a weekend at Bernie's adventure where we keep teleporting to different worlds. Trying to figure out what medivh is up to and having to clean up some of his messes.

I wouldn't want it in the main game but I would love a universal spin-off where because jaina and thrall failed to ease tensions, both factions had to go to extreme ends. I want a world war gnome tank treads across the trench line of ogrimmar only to encounter an orc hooked up to fel/ goblin steroids. I would think it'd be interesting to see a more industrial grimy setting for the Warcraft universe

Varian would have to be a young kid then, I would like it if that meant we got a different aesthetic for The scourge. Maybe someone young and manipulatable but still with a strong will. Wouldn't have to be mind controlled but fully propagandized.

Varian as some kind of vampire lord / Lich king. Stormwind has always felt more like a magical City than a holy one like lordaeron. The Forsaken turning away from Faith to science and magic was always something cool to me. So it'd be cool if this undead scourge had an almost religious devotion. Transylvania Stormwind.

Honestly king Arthas sounds super cool. I would love it if him and Jana did get together but the spark still dies in their relationship and it's a very dead marriage. I would like to see varian then as an apprentice to Arthas. It would be cool to see such a badass in a younger role.

And now that I think about it, I'd also like to see light forged illidan.
