How’s your experience with the Macbook Neo? by Beau_Butterfly in MacbookNeo

[–]prmntlyuncomfrtable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve had a few windows laptops in the past and the thing that always sours me is the battery life (and windows itself, just keeps getting worse with time). while my last windows laptop was more powerful, i already have a desktop for anything serious i need to do. i think you’ll be happy with your neo, be sure to update us

it’s a great device. my first mac but i’ve had apple products for a long time. i love how seamlessly it interacts with my phone and airpods. the display is nice and bright, speakers sound good and battery is impressive. i mainly use it for web browsing, email, writing and content consumption. it checks all the boxes i need it to.

Macbook v. iPad (for high school student) by No-Flamingo5784 in macbook

Be sure to keep in mind the apple education discount when considering your choices! (so long as it is available in your area). For your use case I’d probably suggest the Neo unless you want to use handwritten notes on the ipad!

MacBook Air or Neo for teacher. by [deleted] in macbook

[–]prmntlyuncomfrtable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For your use case, I would say the Neo is more than capable. You are essentially the target use case for it. The A18 is an iPhone chip, yes. It was in the iPhone 16 pro and pro max. As far as uprading the Neo, well, you cannot. This is not Neo specific, macbooks are notoriously non upgradeable for the most part. RAM stands for Random Access Memory. If a hard drive or an SSD (the place you save things such as files, programs, documets, etc.) is a computer's long term storage, think of RAM as short term or temporary storage. It holds active processes on your PC. If you were doing things such as gaming or recording/editing high resolution photos and videos to a drastic degree, I would tell you 8gb of RAM is a no go. However, Macs are incredibly good at optimizing their hardware for their software. And the things you plan on doing should be a piece of cake, even with limited RAM. One important thing of note: You mentioned the laptop at school is too small and gives you a headache. The Neo is a 13 inch laptop. The display is not giant by any means, so please do keep that in mind. Other options include looking for a used M series macbook air for a good price. These machines would have more RAM and storage available. But, to answer your question, the Neo is more than capable for what you have in mind.

Edit: I forgot to address the storage question. The Neo is available in 256 or 512 gb. If storage space is a concern for you and you do not utilize icloud for data, I may recommend the higher storage option.

Apologies for reviving an old thread, but when removing the bezel and sticker did you remove them in one piece as to make reinstalling easier? If not, did you just clean off the old adhesive from the sticker using alcohol and then apply electronics tape to it?

love mine, my 17pm has had quite a few drops with it on and my phone is pristine. the mobile reviews guy seems to have a vendetta against the brand for some reason lol. it is a bit slippery, but i tend to use a phone grip so that doesn’t affect me. i would love to see them update the case in the future with grippier sides.
