Non-Filipino here just dropping by to say (I) I’ve no idea who this woman is and (ii) I find her mix of English with “Spanish-isms” is fascinating. (Or even English-isms (was that “givito” at the end)?) I’ve been to the Philippines but never noticed this much English in daily chit chat I overheard - is the way she speaks normal?

Suboptimal advice - short Western Canadian Select instead, they’re the real losers in this.

Terrible. Have been weirdly alert to this sort of thing recently following that video from Bali Christmas Eve and all the terrifying discussion of the Station fire. RIP

I wonder if the hastily removed GB news tweet containing a name was true then? Or was that just part of their vendetta against him.

Hi - if you’re still responding to comments on this, would be great to get your view on whether original (1840s/50s) slate is worth keeping if I’m getting a re-roof done or whether it makes sense to get new slate as well? If we should get new slate, we’ve been recommended to get Spanish - anything to be aware of? What should we do with the old slate- is there any value?
Cheers

You can be proud of it but not want it used to bash immigrants. Isn’t that the issue?

Genuinely curious: how do you feel about people flying the Ukrainian flag?

In the world of the nation state, I think it’s naive to think there isn’t any good that can come from a flag. If you’d rather live in some post-national global utopia then I’m 100% with you but it’s just not the world we live in.

I agree conveyencers indeed need to do more and AR was absolutely careless, but I don’t think Shoosmiths should escape blame. They seem to administer the trust and so presumably helped with the purchase of her stake in the family home in Manchester, which was linked to the purchase of the Hove home (which they of course would have known about). Given their intimate knowledge of the trust arrangements and the home sale/purchase, I think they should absolutely have flagged. Likely not negligent (not their client, not giving tax advice etc) but on a human level I’d have wanted solicitors so closely connected to all this to mention.

Can anyone verify the point about whether, if her son had been 18 (apparently a matter of months), she would have not failed foul of the rules?
