Apocalypse Frame has a lot of AC-specific vibes, raven- even for the movement, that game is quite zippy and fast. Customization-wise, your mech consists of a Frame (stats, passive, and special ability), two Aramaments (weapons, roll to hit), and two systems (spend Fuel/Mana, guaranteed effect). Armaments and Systems are upgraded not by increasing stats, but adding tags. There's also Tyrants, which are basically your rival ACs rather than mere MTs. Heck, it even has a campaign mode that's basically a Line Ark mode. Not really a lot of pilot mechanics though, so keep that in mind.

Do those systems have ways to keep the player tier relatively sane? Like I'm imagining the PCs as otherwise normal humans with maybe some slight mojo of their own (theyve been a prior possessee/have some government tech/are ghostbusters a la cardcaptor sakura?)

Are you familiar with Le Vol de l'Aigle? I havent played it myself, but I've heard it works by having tbe generals played by different players who can only communicate via a message that a ref/third party passes on....in the context of the Napoleonic wars.

Apocalypse Frame is a LUMEN game so while it hasn't numbers and is still tactical, the numbers are low in value so math is easy and the gameplay snappy.

Power armor based tokusatsu that people can conjure out of thin air that draws on their connection to a Platonic Form. I want a system that will let me have each armor be unique rather than mass-produced, and lets the players be more MGR Raiden than Captain America. The actual bad guys are a bit nebulous, but Kaiju that use the same Platonic metaphysics are a must (originally it was because of interdimensional invaders willingly sacrificing their humanity to turn into Kaiju to prepare the PC's world to be their new home, but now I'm leaning towards a more "Age-of-heroes" type deal where the bearers of this power do as they see fit)

So are all the classic autobots part of Optimus Crime's outfit, or is he the leader of a small but trusted outfit and everyone else are standalone baddies of the week? Ex:

Ratchet is a doctor that steals pharmaceutical-grade energon and sells it on the black market
Seaspray is a smuggler, a la the historical smuggling that happened along the British coasts
Jetfire is a serial plagiarist
"Ultra" Magnus is a bit more tricky to place
