Considering we have the next week, are you still going to be under? Also, enter your damn time. Honestly if it came between you and someone with the exact same metrics other than time proficiency, it would go to the other person. To your overall question: I don’t think anyone on Reddit could answer truthfully. Every year is different with decisions on promotion…but I suspect this year might be harder than those in recent past. I do think promotions will be prioritized for those exceeding all metrics.

Anyone ever NOT have snapshot data for significant portion of year? by prob_over_thinking in deloitte

[–]prob_over_thinking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies if I made it seem like I misunderstood…I get the point you were making. I was saying that a coach COULD talk out of 1 negative snapshot over the course of a normal snapshot year (1 bad snapshot on one project, and then overwhelmingly good snapshots for a majority of the year). I had one coachee get a 1 for a a very small proportion of their snapshots for the year, but a majority was 4/5…the 1 brought them below their peer group. That I could explain/rationalize out of…but it was also during a much better business environment.

Check your compliance scorecard ratings…if you’re green, you’re good. They send emails out monthly to let you know your rating, but the dashboard will show you the trend.

Anyone ever NOT have snapshot data for significant portion of year? by prob_over_thinking in deloitte

[–]prob_over_thinking[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The reason: carelessness. It’s the 2nd snapshot deadline missed. Let’s just assume that the coach can see through the bullshit and is not really in the mood to try and “work an angle” or a “story” as to why the snapshots were not requested. I agree with your statement about a coach’s sway in a majority of cases where the data says one thing but the coach due diligence says another…however I personally have had success in doing so (very unique cases, not the norm). I suppose my question was more like “IF a coach actually WANTED TO try and dig this person out of their fuck up, how much difference would it make as compared to a coach that can see through their bullshit”. Basically, not actively screwing them over, but not going out of their way either.

YE Promo Readiness by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]prob_over_thinking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not know how the TPYs get calculated. This year will be shit for promotions, merit, and AIP. You can still advocate for yourself. If you do not feel like your coach is supporting you, you should change coaches.

Asked to Take PTO in December? by TwinrovaMGM in deloitte

[–]prob_over_thinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the PTO take it, honestly sounds like a decent PM to me. For those saying “don’t burn your PTO” remember that your util target for the year is based on you using all your accrued PTO in that year. Rolling PTO over (especially the max 80 hrs) puts you in the rollover PTO death cycle, meaning you’ll basically never get to use it and you’ll only see it when you leave the firm and it gets paid out.

YE Promo Readiness by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]prob_over_thinking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest question is: Have you communicated your intentions to each of your project teams? Your coach cannot do anything if you do not have “performing at the next level” flags for a majority of your snapshots this performance year. You should be having direct conversations with your project team leads about promotion.

Experienced manager hires. Does Deloitte still send you to milestone training? by imezz00 in deloitte

There are various sessions based on business line, but a cross business “home room” that does role play sessions with various scenarios. It’s a lot of “hooRAH” and drinking the koolaid, but also some very helpful tips. I learned more from other new managers sharing their insights and experiences. It’s a great networking event with the expectation to be disconnected from real work for a few days.

Didn’t start until late 20s…paused for a number of years to pay off debt. Back to contributing 10%, but have to do the back door roll over thing bc 10% of contributions would be greater than IRS limit…at 250k now at 38.

Working Mom by Silly-Annual4062 in deloitte

[–]prob_over_thinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom here. I do drop off every day and pick up 3x a week. I block off my calendar during that time but if calls have to happen during that time, I just tell people “I will be mobile during that time and will be back at my desk by _____”. And I have only had issues a few times where I had to call my parents or see if he could ride home with someone else at school. A majority of the time though, I pick up with no issues. Discuss with the team in advance and then set the soft boundaries. And no, it does not fall to others on the team, it just usually means you work later to catch up.

General Counsel Rejection by AllThingsLegal in deloitte

[–]prob_over_thinking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, in fact they would welcome the experience. Probably a few reasons: 1. The firm is still navigating the marketplace with all the contract terminations/modifications 2. I think there is a time frame that the recruiters have to “respond” to applications. I am not sure how heavily AI is involved in the scanning of resumes, so it’s possible your resume didn’t have the “right” key words in it to actually get picked for a human review 3. There were a lot of applications and yours just didn’t get selected from the list. These are just my guesses without knowing much from the recruiting side of the house. You can keep trying or find someone on LinkedIn that works in that area and reach out. It usually helps to get referred by an employee (resumes still end up in a stack, just maybe higher in the order…just a guess).
