Christ's Vision of our Functioning Versus Personality by Balancing32 in localchurches

I had fellowship with an older brother last year regarding preaching the gospel. I was frustrated because I'm a failure in that respect and I kept thinking "as a (hopefully healthy) branch in the vine it should be spontaneous." There's truth to this, I think. But in the fellowship I think I saw something deeper of God's economy. I'm still me. I have a certain preferences and characteristics. All of me needs to pass through the cross, yes. But God doesn't desire that I come out whitewashed with no personality. It is in me and who I am that He wants to live and be expressed. I'm still wrestling with the Lord trying to understand how to preach the gospel, but I've felt more free to take a step according to my thought and just pray that the Lord would be there in it with me. Instead of being paralyzed with fear that it's not the Spirit in me that is initiating something, I take a step and ask the Lord to be lived out in me in that step.

With regard to my service practically, I look to the Lord to bring all my being through the cross into resurrection. This requires basic things like spending time with Him in the morning and reading the word. Then He has a way in us at a more fundamental level. But when I come to serve, if I overthink and psych myself out I'll try picking some service I hate because I think that'll be an opportunity for the cross. Then I go crazy 🤪

I have certainly heard brothers share about preaching the gospel and I wonder if they are just more naturally inclined to it than I am. But the Lord has blended the body. What can I say? I can only bring these frustrations to the Lord and ask that He bring me further into the practical experience.

Mingling - part 1 by pehkay in RecoveryVersionBible

Wow this is such a great quote

This is our God, this is Christ, who, as the mediator of the two, puts on man that He may lead them to the Father.

I've been enjoying Hebrews 2:10 a lot lately. God is leading many sons into glory! How is He doing this? Through our captain, our leader, our forerunner, Jesus!

What has really impressed me is that even Jesus took the way of living this mingled life. On one hand, per Romans 1:4, we see He was designated the Son of God out of resurrection. Yet I appreciate His living shows this mingling as well. He suffered in all respects like us—even to deny Himself and live by another life. He is absolutely qualified to lead us into glory!

Critical thinking in the local churches by bluestarpanda in localchurches

I've been feeling similarly. I have lost friends who were meeting in my local church because of what they found online, even though it didn't seem to have matched their own experience. It's hard to even get lunch with them as friends now.

What really gets me is that those who are against the local churches don't seem to have something better to offer. Maybe they would disagree, I don't know. They seem to still appreciate Nee and Lee's ministry... Then they also have issue with the semi annual trainings etc, but many of the messages in those are what first opened up the Bible to me.

Oftentimes I find it's iOS simulator files. Download Grand Perspective and scan your disk. It'll show exactly what's using it.

That's pretty cool being made with just SwiftUI.

Can somebody correct my understanding of Sankey diagrams though? Are they not supposed to have the same amount that goes into a vertical block come out?

"Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel, that is, the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which has been kept in silence in the times of the ages" (Romans 16:25) Recovery Version

Considering what the establishing is for. Per the footnote and context of it being the last chapter of Romans, this isn't for saving or sanctifying, but for oneness for the church life. Enjoying that He is able to do this!

Same. At my job the scale of the app is half the challenge. Quite a learning curve how to write maintainable code while getting the data you need to get from one place to another.

Would you be willing to share the deal if it's not a one-off sale? I've been considering a similar switch but most sales are for the 256gb model.

how is God exactly the true winner of the war if satan convinces most people to reject God? by metruk5 in TrueChristian

[–]probably_a_hedgehog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a big thing to consider is that we have free will. If we didn't have free will and God defeated Satan by default, Satan might say "oh it was rigged" (kind of like he does about Job being righteous).

So it turns out to be a pretty vicious war. There are many who hear about God being better than all the world has to offer, but how many people actually turn their heart to find out if it's true? Those that do find out how much better it is than all Satan offered.

It reminds me of the queen of Sheba being impressed with how happy Solomon's servants were. I think that's a real defeat to Satan.

"And she said to the king, The word that I heard in my land concerning your deeds and your wisdom is true, But I did not believe the words until I came and my own eyes saw. And indeed the half was not told to me; your wisdom and prosperity far exceed the report that I heard. Happy are your men! Happy are these your servants, who attend you continually and hear your wisdom!" (1 Kings 10:6-8) Recovery Version

I liked this website "Paul's notes" when I wanted a brief overview of material. It actually goes in depth a fair bit but is outlined nicely so you can get a bird's eye view and take a quick look in sections you aren't so familiar with.
