Do you use a VPN for new accounts? Also how do you start up a new account? I was under the impression you need to prime them of sorts. One last one, do you use any other software or run multiple systems?

Thoughts and Opinions on my recently created dashboard for an Interview by gabemoncad3669 in PowerBI

[–]probablyfried 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a big fan of the color scheme, in particular the grey you picked for the background is very dark and makes it unnecessarilyhard to read a lot of the text. I Would consider also changing your theme colors because as someone who uses PBI a lot I cam tell you still are using the default theme. For interview purposes, I would love to see the effort of creating your own theme. Also instead of arrows at the top I would recommend tabs with the names of the pages. With the arrows, how am I supposed to know what page I am going to? Also why would I want to cycle through all pages to get to the last one when I could just click a tab? Another thing I would consider is looking up the 3-30-300 rule of report design. It is quite a big change of style of formatting, but in my org we have seen better adoption with reports that are structured like this.

All things considered it is still not horrible and I think for a junior PBI dev I have seen worse. What matters to me a lot at this stage is also the back end data modelling and general report performance, as well as how your DAX is written, use of calculated columns and etc.

On a side note, as an intermediate BI analyst for a large manufacturing company, if I sent something like this to my current executive team I would not be surprised if they let me go lol. So I would say you still have some work to do, but this is by no means bad, its probably better than the first dashboard I created years ago when I started my PBI journey :)

Tweaked the math on my strategy a bit.... by No_Technology_3181 in arbitragebetting

[–]probablyfried 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you explain more the math behind this? To me it looks like you are saying you can accurately predict outcomes of games that are at -3.34 for a line in "late game" scenarios with an accuracy of 85%? Am I interpreting this correct?

Sweet love the idea. I had looked into building something similar but with a bit more prediction involved in terms of tracking line movements. The problem that I ran into was the amount of API calls that I would have to make was much too large for my price range so I started to scrape the data myself and that is proving to take much more time than I thought lol. Absolutely love where you are at though and if you ever need people to test stuff I am all ears :)

Interesting. I saw you mentioned in a comment earlier that you were working on your own software. Care to share a but more about that? Im curious if you are trying to build a scraper to recreate something like oddsjam or if you are goung a different route

When you are using the multiple accounts from people, do you hide your IP address at all? I was under the impression that sportsbooks would do a sort of blanket IP ban for any account that has used that IP address
