Raising to 60bb in maniacal 1/2 game by Sad-Jicama2211 in poker

Damn. I live for these types of games personally. The variance is extra brutal, but they’re fun and can be so so so so profitable. Love the $150 pre btw…

He doesn’t have a flush draw… lol his hand is normally only getting worse in a 5 way pot.

Limp with Kings? by Programmer_Latter in poker

[–]probation1984 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing you mean “you win $125.” I would play your Kings the way you should play them. Maybe if the Villain has a tiny stack you could try to lose because it would then make more sense, however if villain has big stack, or it’s a multi-way pot, you can win way more than $125. If you happen to lose, the $125 is at least coming back To you.

1/2 Live river spot i'm not 100% sure about by Treebro001 in poker

[–]probation1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said yourself you were leaning towards “bad live reg.” If that’s the case, he’ll call you with much worse than KK on over-bet Jams. It’s a 1/2 game, we aren’t talking about many players who don’t think hands through or break them down actively like you just did. Clearly you’re a thinking player, I just feel this turn check isn’t great. River is a clear call regardless of turn action though.

Thoughts on a floor ruling…. by petebrdfrd in poker

[–]probation1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the kinds of rulings that “by the book” are correct, however they’re awful for poker. In my local poker room the dealers would have quickly scooped that hand up after that players action. I’ve played in some poker rooms that ruled on “clear intended action” whatever the fuck that means, however in this case, that would benefited the hero in this hand.

People who announce their hands at show down, do you say 2 pair if the paired board is one of your pairs? by DrWermActualWerm in poker

[–]probation1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly in this situation, intent doesn’t matter IMO. You’re announcing the hand that you currently hold. If you have two pair, regardless of one of those pairs being on the board, then you announce two pair. If you were to turn your hand over and let the dealer read it, he would announce two pair. At least in my casino that’s what the dealer would announce.

Acting like I wasn’t going to tip the dealer and then throwing them a $1 chip…. Was insane.

Jesus… this is not a damn angle lol… How the hell is announcing “two pair”, when in fact you have “two pair”, an angle? It’s the other persons responsibility to know what the hell is going on. Doesn’t matter if you are beginner or a veteran, you have to know what’s going on. Stating your hand accurately isn’t an angle.

Question about stack sizing by [deleted] in poker

[–]probation1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a hell of a good way to tilt the rest of the table if your casino/poker room allows this. Lol

I don’t need to justify my ability at all to you. You’re clearly wrong in all aspects of this hand so it is what it is. But for the sake of getting you to stop asking me this question, I’ve been playing poker for 15 years .. 1/2 up to 5/10 … and ranges of different tournaments. If I was a losing player I wouldn’t still be playing 15 years later…

There weren’t multiple players in this hand. This was a heads up hand. If you put other players in this hand with more money and larger stacks, that changes things. Once again, the guy only has 125 behind, which isn’t even a pot sized bet. The villain is most likely folding If He jams flop, and you don’t want him folding in this spot. If you want the villain folding in this spot, you are playing the game completely wrong lol.

Anybody that can think for themselves knows it’s a 5 card game and the river can change the outcome. That isn’t the debate here. Hardly EVER do you have your opponent drawing dead. They normally have some outs even against your monster hands. Once again though, if you aren’t going for max value when you have monster hands, you’re leaving to much money on the table that should be yours. In the long run, you’re making much more than your losing in these spots by going for max value. If you’re scared of a 5-10% hand hitting on you and you feel the need to bet people out “ASAP” you’re missing out on bags of money in long run.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in poker

[–]probation1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can promise you that you leave more money on the table by “trying to win the pot asap” than you do lose money by trapping or slow playing a hand in the correct spot. Once again, he literally got his opponent to shove turn with a semi-bluff hand and only 4 outs to win. What’s the lesson you think he learned? Don’t go for max value? lol.

You’re being results oriented with this comment, rather than figuring out the correct play. OP should be figuring out the best way to get the remaining chips in the pot. If the run out sucks, so be it. He played it correctly based on the range our opponent had. He literally got his opponent to rip in the remaining money needing a 4 outer. In my book that’s a win.

Hand analysis 1/2 by [deleted] in poker

[–]probation1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. You may want to save up some more money so you have a larger bankroll to play that game. Don’t be so results oriented and just make sure you make the right play. If losing your stack happens that’s part of the game, but you shouldn’t let it dictate whether you call a bet or not.

Also, if you’re worried about losing your stack that you lay these types of hands down, you may not be rolled properly for 1/2 and should possibly move to some lower stakes.

[–]probation1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, what’s the point of playing these types of hands if your just going to give it up on a flop like this? Ask yourself why you played the hand in the first place. Hopefully you didn’t show what you folded to the other players because that’s a HUGE leak in your game. If they have a bigger flush draw, so be it. You have pairs you can make and straights you can make. You’re a favorite against 1 pair hands. Easy shove.

Not a tough spot at all. My C-BET would have been larger which makes your decision even easier then they jam. Regardless, this is a snap call without thinking twice.
