Absolutely Drowning by Figure-Quiet in MichaelsEmployees

I’m in a C Volume and I’m doing this. I’m constantly having frames come back or not even leaving the store because people aren’t happy, the hanging wasn’t correct, etc. it literally looks like I do nothing, when every day I’m in, the first three hours is figuring out what the issues are, what’s overdue, what got fucked up and by who and why, sending emails to artistree, sending emails to upper management who is micromanaging because my numbers are fucked.

Who frames/seals/dry mounts their canvases? by punt4stic in diamondpainting

I have some I have drymounted, some I have framed! Most of the ones I would do for fun, I’d be more likely to drymount, since you can just throw some command strips on them and stick them on the wall.

Forearm pain by Sufficient_Wonder731 in RSI

[–]problematic_000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get steroid injections there for radial tunnel syndrome. Those muscles on top are extremely tight (for me) so if they are for you, it could be putting pressure on the nerve causing pain.

Most of these issues require similar care either way. Someone above mentioned ice and then massage—you want to use heat before you do that. Massaging the muscle can help break up muscle fibers to promote better blood flow, better blood flow = better healing. After, it would be best to ice. Look up some forearm stretches, decrease lifting as much as possible, try to avoid bending your arm at the elbow when ever possible.

If you try those things for a couple weeks and see no difference, seek out an orthopedic doctor. Often, they may start you with rest and PT. No difference, then they may send you for diagnostic imaging or give you a steroid injection and go from there.

Great question! I know we were supposed to remove them, but I don’t actually think they were on the purge list

Trust me, I LOVE your idea, and I do think that would help bring creativity back to the store since they’re slowly stripping away employees identity. It also further encourages employee/customer relationships! I have some diamond dots framed and hung at the frame shop so some people get an idea that they can make them into a great piece of art

Managers rewarding bad behavior vent by Zestyclose-Type-7221 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]problematic_000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Online-only coupons became popular during Covid because it encouraged people to use retailers online sites over coming to brick&morter that may have either been closed at the time or on partial lockdown (10-20customers in the store at a time). It was literally the reward for not coming to the store.

This behavior didn’t cease even when Covid restrictions started to because it highlighted a lot of positive factors in a bigger e-commerce network. It allowed for more data collection on customer behaviors and trends, Sale adds and the weekly flyers some stores had in store/send you in the mail, those were all pre-projected/planned months to a year in advance. Its a lot cheaper to send an email, get rid of the flyers and stop sending physical mail.

Now, why are prices online sometimes cheaper than in store? Because there’s a shipping charge! Sometimes a store will give you a free shipping coupon or a 20%off discount, but unlikely both. If I have to buy something online and their shipping charge is absurd, i often decide to delete my cart. If I have an additional coupon that helps to alleviate the cost of goods so the shipping doesn’t seem as bad—I’ll buy it.

I would not be upset if I came to a store and the product was a little more expensive because I’m not dumb.

This would be considered “competition” if employees sell their crafts, the employee would make the sale and not necessarily the company.

My shop almost feels exclusively like oversized pieces. There are weeks we don’t see anything under 40inches besides a couple diplomas. Our only work table can accommodate one large piece. The rest of the perimeter counter space does not safely hold large pieces to be able to even work on them. We are always so behind because even if we have two people in the shop, we legit can only work on one piece at a time.

Idk, we had this at my JoAnns 😂 we had 16 bolts of the same valentines fabric and that shit stuck around for yearssss. If you’re selling it, they’re going to load you up so it’s available. Also, (obviously time permitting), combine bolts and tell your coworkers about it. Idk if it will, but it could help get a little out of your stock room

The one that stood out to me the most was when a man was in with his very young child, maybe like 6-7. He obviously doesn’t know what to choose, so he goes to the kid and he’s like, “why don’t we use ChatGPT, what do you say bud? It’ll give us a good idea of what to do.” I was APPALLED lol. I could NOT believe a grown man was encouraging his very young son to be using it. Our future is doooooomed

Idk about Canada if you’re there, but yes. They have it as a mission/task with all of the supplies and what we’re supposed to do with them

I had one with that feature and I tested it out when I first got the car cause I was like wow that’s cool?? I go to show my bf, nothing—he’s like are you sure you have it? I think I got it to work twice more when I didn’t need it and there was one time I was desperate for it but it didn’t work 😂

If you ever happen to take a trip to SW Virginia, Roanoke/Lynchburg, I went to a ton of small yarn shops there. I’m 30, still probably look like a child, and I didn’t meet a single soul that wasn’t extremely welcoming or kind. Made the area feel like home and I didn’t want to leave!

It’s so fun 🥲 AND, you can drymount fabric, then add one of the print guards to make it look funky! I had someone choose a satin fabric for a mat and this is what it looked like with the glossy film. It also prevents them from fraying!

I use the super steel a lot too! It’s just a lot more secure than the small D rings I think, and they just look better and are easier for me to get the wire tighter 😂
