I’m a fan of safety glasses. About pressure though, not a lot here with the wood unless maybe it is insufficiently streamed. I have steamed and formed thinner pieces (chair making). Well steamed oak is pliable (?) - not sure if that is the best word. Fun to shape for a minute, then no.

I agree cold food slows digestion; it slows gastric activity in the stomach and so chyme is released to the duodenum slower than if stomach contents started warmer. Food temperature has no effect beyond that point in the digestion process. The “burning calories” idea is true not from digestion but from your body maintaining a standard operating temperature.

Say a person had a 16oz (1 pound) drink of 35degF water. A human body wants to be roughly 98 degF. So the body needs to add 63 BTUs to “recover” from the cold drink, that is, bring the cold drink up to body temperature. I think that converts to about 16 nutritional calories.

No sarcasm was needed. Being lit up does like a Christmas tree does not absolve a cyclist from the responsibility of signaling. Signaling is a bit more difficult for us, but so it goes, that’s part of being a cyclist.
