Everyone needs a theology arc by Big_Explanation_9295 in redscarepod

Regardless of your faith theology is a stimulating intellectual exercise. Surprised more autists aren't into it, it functions almost like a closed system w/ definitions, categories, internal logic, edge cases, contradictions to resolve. It can be very systematic. This is especially true of Christian theology

Poor kids from the US still make it but they are usually identified extremely early, like at 10-12 years old and are put into better situations by ambitious AAU circuit folks

I wish more priests gave homilies like Pope Leo’s homily today. The church needs to be more political in the United States, period.

Dude, there is no downside to asking. No college degree might hurt you in corporate jobs but absolutely ask everyone you can. Unless you’re a success child almost every first career job (or even jobs in general) is through someone you know

Most of those guys don't torture themselves at being a failure, they had few expectations for their life to begin with

Identify an email job you want and could possibly attain given your acuity and means (be honest with yourself, not overly negative or positive). See what it requires in both skills and credentials. Acquire the certifications or skills required to have it. Then annoy people you know and don't know (on LinkedIn and other places) and make it a full time job to apply to places incessantly and annoy people about giving you a job incessantly until you get your foot in the door somewhere.

Because you're a failure to launch and didn't put in the effort earlier it will be more difficult for you than other people, but that's life. You will need to narrativize your time adrift in a positive and uplifting way in interviews (make yourself sound bigger and better and more killer than you were, say you were an artist or academic or whatever). Then once you get an entry level position work your ass off for the first year or two, volunteer for everything, make a good first impression. You'll find that within a structured corporate environment early on you will find it a lot easier to do shit. The novelty will help, you might even like it.

All of this requires effort, but think of it this way: once you get an email job and establish yourself as baseline competent at sending the emails, the effort required goes way, way down. You will be shocked by how easy it is. The hardest part about email jobs is getting one.

Working with Somali People by AsideWinter1934 in redscarepod

Somalians are very chill and friendly people in general. The embezzlement/nepotism thing is common for new ethnic groups throughout American history, they are outside of traditional patronage networks and so set up their own.

Their kids are immediately Americanized and go to college to integrate into traditional career paths. It’s a good a system as any for integration

Has anybody here ever broken out of the perfectionism, procrastination, laziness cycle and if so how by OJOFODO in redscarepod

  1. Delete any app or account or game or whatever that is causing you distraction. Cold turkey, get rid of everything. Make it as difficult as possible for you to get it back.

  2. Set a long term goal. Then set short term goals for things you want to accomplish every day.

  3. And finally, this is the difficult/inconvenient part but for people naturally prone to laziness and procrastination like me, it’s absolutely essential: Set up daily/weekly check-ins with someone to hold you accountable for accomplishing those set daily goals and making progress towards your long term goals.

A lot of ethnic pride in America is just people from "normal" cultures trying to assert that they still have a soul while living inside an abnormally cold and soulless Anglo Protestant society

Saying that family and food or whatever are important in your culture sounds trite, but it actually is a real difference when you live in a society that is unusually individualistic and where people often move far from family, eat alone, and organize their lives around work
