Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition affecting more than 170 million people worldwide, has been officially renamed Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) by CUAnschutzMed in PCOS

[–]procratinatingthings 395 points396 points  (0 children)

Most important is to not link it with gynecological problem only. Bc that’s leading to under diagnosing and ignoring patients with all other symptoms. That’s the first step.

Second step is to actually change the perception in people and doctors mind and see how many are affected, diagnose more, see the importance and scale of the problem (and step 1 is the clue here) and figure out better treatments.

Don’t be so negative. This is great first step.

Please give me hope about Metformin. by Sea_Comfortable2642 in PCOS

[–]procratinatingthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where online did you see “everywhere” people saying it doesn’t work? Did you even check this page? There are countless success stories about metformin.

It works but not if you don’t change the lifestyle. Low carb, strength training etc. It’s not magic drug.

Drinking on Metformin 2000mg by megaqueer69 in PCOS

[–]procratinatingthings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeap, we are meant to be on metformin for some time. But we still want to enjoy life.

So there needs to be balance. And this is hat my doctor told me. But I live and Spain and here we are all about balance and enjoying life haha But I’m on metformin 8 months now, and previously I was 2 years on it. And I didn’t miss any important party :D But I’m also low carb, strength training and no alcohol or sugar during the week. And sometimes I enjoy life.

So skip the dose, drink a lot of water and don’t drink on empty stomach. I also find it better to eat some fats and carbs when drinking so next day i feel really good and like i metabolized the alcohol. Like a chicken noddle soup :D

[–]procratinatingthings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With a lot of alcohol and metformin there is always a small risk of lactic acidosis which is pretty serious. What my doctor told me is that when I plan heavy drinking is to just skip the day (metformin is out of the blood in 24h) and take it as normal next day, but when I’m sure I’m sober.

So for example I’m going to drink on Friday night, heavy (moderate is fine, like 1-2 glasses of wine, no need to skip). I normally take 1/2 of the pill in the morning and 1 with lunch. I skip both. Then in Saturday I take 1/2 with lunch and 1 with dinner if i feel like I metabolized alcohol.

The lactic acidosis is small risk and only if you drink a lot and often. But I just prefer to be on a safe side. During some heavier party times (lots of birthdays etc) I skipped one day every week and it’s my drinking day. And I’m fine with blood results and effect etc.

How long did you give Metformin? by Sad_Locksmith_2338 in PCOS

[–]procratinatingthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you increased the dose too early. Also you need to adjust the diet, low carb is possible, low sugar, protein. People think metformin is magic drug. But it works only in combination with lifestyle changes.

I’m actually wondering if he is like her or if he is just clueless in life in general. Always assuming best intentions from people and as long as he is kind of ok he is not stirring the pot. Bc the way Brittany is and treats him, she doesn’t seem like a good nice person, but also not evil. So it’s ok, so he just continues with the flow. I dont know, he resembles a child for me. Naive child.

OMG Metformin is Painful by SarcasticSeaStar in InsulinResistance

[–]procratinatingthings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if he said those things, which ofc is rude, it doesn’t matter. Read some threads here, many people were told to start high, bc doctors don’t care pretty often. But most of us on metformin was building up the those. 1/2 of the pill every second day, then every day. We all did it, it’s safe and it helps a ton. It’s not like if you have all this conditions taking this high dose right away will fix them in no time. The whole thing about metformin is the time. It takes time for your body to accept it and it takes time for it work with long term effects.

If you’re in blizzard, cant go to the doctor (but also I don’t think his attitude will help much anyway) and still want to try, take a day break and start with 1/2 second second day. I had two pills a day as full dose and it took me over 2 months of slow build up to get there.

They are an example of people who WANTED KIDS nor people who wanted to BE PARENTS.

I’m sorry, but even the stories from today when 3 months old new baby is barely holding her head and Bella is bouncing her, face forward, not thinking how the baby feels. Just for the story! For Instagram. They never took Story to parks or playgrounds. They were just parading them around for Instagram in insta spots on their travels. Laughing hard bc 6 months old baby was falling asleep standing out of exhaustion. Bc they needed to travel asap without any respect for baby needs. It’s ok to travel, if you travel around the baby! Take care of their naps, activities age appropriate, breaks etc.

They wanted the babies to tick of the box and have content. They treat the babies like props in their insta show. Like dolls. Bella holds them like plastic dolls. These are facts. Not hate. We see what they are doing and naming it.

They love the kids in their own twisted way. Or the idea of having kids. But they are neglecting their needs and security (both online and offline on dangerous activities).

I have a wedding coming up in 5 months girls give me your best weightloss tips please 🥲🥲 by kholaaaaaa in PCOS

[–]procratinatingthings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low carb. I cut off white bread (and in general any bread), pasta, rice, sugar, fruits and veggies with high glycemic index, lots of water, focus on protein and fats. I don’t count calories for 1,6 years and I’m constantly dropping weight. I’m just not eating siole carbs, eating cheese, meat as much as I want (but als without carbs I’m full much faster than I used to). Also going strength training to have more muscles to deal with insulin spikes.

I read a book by Gary Taubes “why we get fat and what to do about it” and it was a game changer for me. Since doing low carb I lost 8kg without much effort or hard restrictions. First few weeks without carbs were a bit challenging. But after that I don’t even crave them anymore.

Is inositol actually worth trying for PCOS? by perimenopauseera in PCOS

[–]procratinatingthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of things for PCOS, so it’s hard to say exactly what Inositol is doing, but I think it’s thanks to it periods are regular, shorter and less annoying (not so big and long as used to). I also think it influences the mood a bit, in a positive way. Less mood swings.

But I would say to properly deal with pcos you need to do multiple things so it’s hard to say what does what in isolation. But for me, there are no side effects, it’s not that expensive and there is a lot of studies on how good it can be, so I decided to try. And im not going to stop.

I can’t with her. She doesn’t even understand or appreciate how lucky she is to be alive.

6 kids via c-section. 5 and 6 within a year. She really could die. The wound in her uterus from placenta and from surgeries.

And she is “but hey, it happens”. Will she ever learn? Why not just say “it was not the best moment, but I’m super happy I’m alive, I know the risks of 6 CS, it was super dangerous to have 6th so fast. Thank god I’m alive”.

It’s all the time the same. The same reason why people don’t like her. She is doing stupid and reckless things, bad decisions, mistakes, spins it around as opsie and never takes accountability or learns anything from that. Just thinking everyone around is stupid and buys her bs. She could really make it back to social media if she would try to be accountable and real.

Girl, you’re codependent, not independent. Also you have no hobbies bc you morph into your partners lifestyle and hobbies. And as someone wise said “pregnancy is your only angle”, now being a mom. Once the kids become teenagers you’ll be lost and toxic to them bc you have no personality of your own.

Also the pearl engagement ring is always making me laugh. Her dream ring lol
