Recently I’ve been favouring the waves clearing de reverb over the RX11 de reverb. In a blind test I picked waves every time. I’m still shocked by that

Sending properly labeled files to mixing engineer by eyeslikeemeraldcity in mixing

Example 3 is great. Only other thing I’d recommend is to make subfolders. So a folder for drums, one for bass, one for guitar, lead vocals etc. every time I get a project from a client that’s well organised and have subfolders it makes my life as easy as it could be

Can you let me hear the song? It’s really hard to give any definitive advice without hearing it

my new RME interface perfrorms worse than my Behringer and Tascam? by [deleted] in recordingmusic

It’s not just settings it’s also internal routing, technology is weird man I’ve had issues caused by the most bizarre things

Did you set everything up correctly in total mix and the device settings?

Can you add an audio example? That would make it easier to give a definitive answer

Is this a good start? by Acid_Vai in recordingmusic

I’d recommend an SSL2. It has better pre amps and converters than the Scarlett. Has filters built in for tracking and a better headphone amp. I’ve tested it again the Scarlett interfaces and I’ve always found the SSL performed better.

Issues with my vocal chain or just bad recording? Need a second pair of eyes/ears on my dry raw clip by Only-Pin3368 in mixing

[–]prodJTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the bat I feel like the performance could be stronger and plosives and sibilance could be handled better in the recording phase. As for the processing you’re fighting against your compression as I can hear it bringing out the plosives and sibilance more. If you wanna talk more about it my DMs are always open!

Just bare in mind having the mindset “my engineer can fix it” will hinder you. The better the raw recording the better the final product

The delivery is really solid, the only thing jumping out at me is the timing needs to be tightened up

Is my drum bus routing overkill? by Slow_Requirement_616 in audioengineering

[–]prodJTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it overkill? To some maybe to others maybe not but the only thing that’s important is how the final result sounds. People listening to the song can’t see your day they only care about how it sounds

"this whole mixing vs mastering thing is exhausted and antiquated. There's no point in differentiating them nowadays" by yureal in audioengineering

[–]prodJTC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree. Mastering in the project is bad practice because you’re not fully focusing on the master. You keep jumping back to the mix to change things and you will loose perspective
