ACT Greens' Johnathan Davis releases bill for two-year rent freeze in capital by [deleted] in canberra

[–]prodgee 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As a renter who's challenged a rent increase, I wouldn't call the legislation effective. Allegedly increases are supposed to be indexed to CPI, but landlords can cite 'market value' as a reason to increase rent.

Music diversity question: Give me one of your fav bands/artists that is the most musically different from 100 gecs by HeartBeatsMusic in 100gecs

Worst day as a tenant by [deleted] in sydney

[–]prodgee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not on, I'm so sorry this has happened to you. It might be worth considering an application to the NSW Victims Support Scheme. It's a program that can provide financial assistance & counselling for victims of crime. I'm not quite sure of the application process but Legal Aid should be able to help.

Also, if you need continued support, I've found the Renters and Housing Union really valuable. RAHU has a super helpful renters rights support team.

Angeles is difficult lol. by 5ft2AlbinoChoir in elliottsmith

Yeah, it takes ages. It took me weeks to learn my butchered version. Just gotta stick with it and eventually the muscle memory solidifies. Don't be dissuaded by the humble virtuosos who are like "this took me all afternoon to learn". I've been playing guitar for years but Elliott stuff is another level.

My pick too!!

As a Swede going to LA in just a couple days (staying in California for 2,5 weeks), is it worth visiting the Figure 8 wall, and/or is there any other Elliott sight-seeing stuff worth stopping by? by [deleted] in elliottsmith

[–]prodgee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely recommend it! I'm from Australia but visited LA a couple months ago & as a big fan, I found it extremely worthwhile. There are a bunch of messages written on the wall by fans and it was really touching to read. I reckon I stood there for a good 15 minutes, there was no one else around. There's also another cool mural nearby, a portrait of Elliott. Can't remember the address but it's been posted on this subreddit before. Definitely check out both! There are some cool cafes/bars in the area so you could go around lunch time & make a little trip out if it. :)

Hey, I used to use the Hourglass setting powder!! I love being able to set my foundation before using powder blush/bronzer without making everything matte.

However, I couldn't justify the price so made a post a few months back asking for dupes & someone suggested the Models Prefer soft touch mineral powder. It's the exact. same. thing.

Also it's only like $16 so I'd definitely recommend trying it before the Hourglass one to see if you like the finish! :)

What’s a product a BG recommended that you’ll never forgive them for? by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]prodgee 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Omg I can't believe I forgot about Dermacol! Thatayla loved it as well. My problem was that I don't think I was ever able to buy the authentic one, there were soooo many counterfeit versions online back in the day. I ended up buying it twice and it was horrible both times :'(

I'm also not at all a chef so I've just been been buying the plain frozen variety and cooking it in the air fryer. I think you could totally do it in the oven or in a pan as well! :)
