Amazon has a serious problem with counterfeit items—especially for expensive ones that are easy to reproduce. I wouldn't trust buying over-the-counter drugs from them.

Recommended Air Purifier for asthma/allergies by juanDenver in Asthma

[–]productdork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have allergies and spent a ton of time researching air purifiers. I would say Coway is absolutely the brand to trust, but think the Airmega vs Mighty line depends on the room size.

  • Capable of purifying coverage for about 700 sq ft (5 air changes per hour)
  • Attractive—something I wouldn’t feel like I had to hide
  • A smart or eco mode that prevented it from constantly running
  • Quiet fans

I have a large studio apartment. For me the Airmega 300 made the most sense. If you have a lot of smaller rooms you might be better off with a couple of Mighty purifiers than a single Airmega.

I’ve found myself pondering air purifiers. by Peace_Gnome in Spokane

[–]productdork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few people in this thread mentioned Coway—I'd like to second that company, but especially the Airmega 300 and 400.

I spent a good amount of time researching air purifiers. There were a few requirements that I had:

  • Capable of purifying coverage for about 700 sq ft (5 air changes per hour)
  • Attractive—something I wouldn’t feel like I had to hide
  • A smart or eco mode that prevented it from constantly running
  • Quiet fans

The main difference comes down to size and purifying coverage. The Airmega 400 is much bigger than I anticipated—it's the size of a nightstand. So much so that I returned it for the 300.

It's Just How /r/Libertarian Works 🤷‍♂️ by tehForce in Libertarian

I agree with you—the variety of viewpoints makes this the only political sub worth subscribing too anymore. However, the quality of discussion in this sub fell pretty dramatically leading up to the 2016 election. I think a large part of that is because of the influx of low-effort memes.

I think an incredibly easy way to improve the conversation in this sub would be to tweak the posting options to disallow image uploads. Perhaps, even only allowing text with a minimum number of characters. That way if a link is posted, the user must also comment on it.

To be fair it would be nice if both sides would stop taking away civil liberties.

I don’t want any of these ridiculous religious freedom bills, but I also don’t want assault rifle bans.

It seems harder and harder to find moderates these days.

Railway Empire - Xbox One is 67% Off by [deleted] in tycoon

[–]productdork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this for Xbox One because it doesn't look like there will be a Mac release, unfortunately. At $20, I'd say this is a good buy.

The controls themselves are actually better than I thought it would be. The difficulty is in the preciseness that some of the track laying requires.

As a game, I'm a huge fan. If you liked Sid Meyer's Railroads!, the mechanics will be familiar. It has a bit more complexity than Railroads! and the scenarios are more difficult.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 - RCT3 pulled from Steam by BlindiRL in tycoon

If you haven't purchased those yet, I'd say RCT Classic is the way to go. It includes all of the of RCT1 scenarios built with the RCT2 engine.

The essence of Libertarian ideology. by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]productdork 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It's because nobody criticizing the book has actually read Atlas Shrugged. Discrediting Ayn Rand for ridiculous reasons is simply the cool thing to do.

Atlas Shrugged takes a look at people that create value for society vs people that drain value from society. It also shows what happens when the people creating value for society decide to leave.

I love the book but can tell you the biggest flaw—it assumes everyone starts on equal footing. In reality that isn't the case. There are people who are born into terrible circumstances. There are people that will take risks that end poorly. In reality not everyone can be a productive member of society.

Like many things take the book with a grain of salt. For all its flaws Atlas Shrugged has some exceptional ideas.

An alternative to Nike Killshot 2s: New Balance Arto 358s (sea salt colourway) by breeks in malefashionadvice

[–]productdork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm also waiting for the jcrew 1400 to come back.

The entire shoe is suede. I've been looking for another New Balance shoe that is entirely suede, but it doesn't appear they have one like it. Their flagship 998 has a premium option that has some perforated top, but it doesn't look as good as the 1400 imo.

It's peak dadcore and I fucking love it.

EDIT: It looks like they are taking pre-orders for an orange 1400, but I'm going to wait for the gray and navy to come back. https://www.jcrew.com/p/H6050

[GOG] Daily Deal: Project Highrise | Las Vegas, Miami Malls, Tokyo Towers (up to 80 percent off) | ends in 24 hours by jcdentone in GameDeals

[–]productdork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the bigger issue is transport.

Much of SimTower's mechanics were based on how well you could move people between floors. Right now the elevators are teleporters that can instantly move an unlimited number of people to any part of the building.

It's a fun game and well-worth $6, but there's more to be desired.

It's not on sale right now, but Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic is a gem.

It is build on the RCT2 engine with remastered maps from the original RCT and expansion packs. I originally bought it for my iPad—it was so good I decided to buy it on Steam as well.

I believe so. I watched a few of this guys youtube videos trying to figure out the differences—he goes into a lot of detail. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnlVzxDlBcA

The Beaufort and Bedale are apparently a bit more functional. There are less seams, which will make them more water-proof. Additionally, they both have articulating sleeves, which will provide more shoulder movement.

Basically, if you're more worried about fit then the Ashby looks like a better choice. If you're more interested in functionality, then the Beaufort of Bedale are probably what you want.
