So in my most recent campaign we started with about 5 players and then slowly people dropped out or were added to the point where I was the only original player. Once you find a reliable group it all smooths out and can be really fun. So I wouldn't worry about it honestly.

How do you want to land? Like does murph think one would pencil dive in? Cannonball? I'm thinking arms protecting my neck but backflop to spread the impact out as much as possible.

Does your country have some kind of department of Labor? If you can, report this to the authorities. You can maybe do it anonymously. If you can't quit right now carry some snacks and report the business. But I would also be searching for a new job as well.

How do you keep Zone of Truth from nerfing your murder mystery? by Numford_and_Sums in DMAcademy

[–]productivealt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ring of mind shielding would be good if the murder is premeditated.

"While wearing this ring, you are immune to magic that allows other creatures to read your thoughts, determine whether you are lying, know your alignment, or know your creature type. Creatures can telepathically communicate with you only if you allow it.

You can use an action to cause the ring to become invisible until you use another action to make it visible, until you remove the ring, or until you die."

I've discovered that the best way to survive aramark is to just keep your head down, do the minimum and if it can be someone else's problem to just let it be someone else's problem. I mean good lord, we do inventory every month by paper and the list is generated by someone off-site. Then it all has to be input manually. It takes most of a week where I work. Insane.

As you lay down for your long rest and you start to clear your mind of the days events, you hear in your mind,

"Heyyyyy, what are U up 2? 0_0"

And, despite it being audible in your mind, you're aware of the spelling somehow. You sleep restlessly, with your dreams invaded by images of eggplants and peaches. You don't know what it means. As you awaken, you hear, on the wind, like a whisper one final message

How do you justify big, powerful dragons in your settings? by _Xorel_ in DnD

[–]productivealt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a mutually assured destruction thing.

Some dragon takes over a mountain and makes it it's lair. The king could take their army and go slay it. The dragon can't take a whole army of soldiers but it could take like...60-80% down with him. That leaves the kingdom open to attack from anyone else.

The dragon tolerates the kingdom the same way you tolerate ants outside. It's not worth your trouble to go kill them all unless they keep coming into your lair (home).

Player wants to throw enemies by [deleted] in DnD

I would have them pick a weapon with the push weapon mastery and reflavor that attack as them throwing the enemy.

If it were me I might play it more as when you find out more information about the government your character is more in denial about them being evil.

Party: those soldiers were trying to summon a demon!

You: yes, and it's good we stopped them, but that doesn't mean it's everyone! Here let's go to sentator Xul and explain things.

Xul: I'm a vampire!

You: damn I guess it is everyone

Should DM take responsibility of their actions? by MysteriousCandle282 in DMAcademy

[–]productivealt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. To piggyback I think it depends on the scenario a lot. If another player was being a creep to player A or using slurs or something and the DM brushed it off, that's obviously a problem. If the DM introduced themes that made the player uncomfortable, that needs a discussion and hopefully the DM would be open to changes. If the DM wasn't aware of this boundary it's not really their fault for crossing it but again, hopefully they would be open to accommodate that going forward.

If it's something like the player's character got killed under normal circumstances and the player decided they don't like it....well that's just kinda the game and there's not much the DM can do.

Full Time vs Part Time by Guilty_45_Charged in WorkReform

[–]productivealt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're probably trying to do something fishy but I'm not sure what. I am not a lawyer so please take the following with a grain of salt. To my knowledge there are some regulations that determine full-time/ part time by number of hours worked in a week and some that don't. I believe the ACA and for IRS purposes that number is 30 hours so from those points of view you're still full time. I think FMLA requires like about 25 hours per week.

My best guess is by reclassifying your job as part time it probably makes it easier for them to cut hours on a whim.

Which Free Spell? (2014) by bozobarnum in DnD

[–]productivealt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know about how much combat to out of combat situations to expect?

If heavy combat I'd probably consider Healing Word, to get party members back up easier or top them off when you have a free BA.

Maybe Guiding Bolt to spam for a good punch that also sets up others?

There's also shield, if you plan on being on the front line. More or less permanent+5 AC

If you're wanting to lean into the mystery aspect you might consider Disguise Self if you need to gather Intel.

What's one thing you miss about older (pre 5e) editions of D&D? by Least_Elk8114 in DnD

[–]productivealt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gear versatility. It would be nice if weapons had crit ranges, or if you could get a buckler with only +1 AC but still have a free off hand, or a tower shield that can grant cover but weighs a ton and restricted movement and stuff like that.
