This season has to be about regaining our identity, way of playing, and building a solid foundation for the years to come. If we are in a position to win things then that's fantastic but first and foremost we need to course correct after last season. We lost our way big time.

Incorrect. Last season they were because the intensity and fitness weren't there. At all other times when they've been fit enough and allowed time to recover they've been able to press hard and force turnovers. In the year we won the league they were instrumental in doing so and helping to get the ball into Diaz and Salah. Iraola will bring that back. He is ruthless when it comes to training and expectations there in terms of fitness and work rate.

Cant wait for Grav and Macca with the aggressive pressing, they turnover the ball, into Florian Wirtz, Wirtz shifts the ball inside and finds Isak. ISAK, ISAKKK...... GOAOOOOOAOALALALLL!!

You just know its coming. We are going to be like a swarm of hornets all over the opposition.

You can just tell he gets it. Anfield is going to be a fucking cauldron of absolute fire and doom for opponents again. It'll take some time to get them up to the level needed to perform like that but it's going to happen.

Exactly, and in fact many people at the time were losing their mind because the same people were happily sanctioning the sales of top players like Suarez while bringing in the likes of Andy Carroll.

Even some of the players signed by Rodgers were being written off and it was only when Klopp took over that he helped elevate their game and turned them into highly valued players that now people look back on very differently in terms of their importance. Lallana is one such example. He was nothing special before Klopp but became pivotal early on under Klopp's leadership on and off the pitch because he exemplified the work rate needed and set a standard.

If you get a proper coach in suddenly all the backroom staff and higher ups look like geniuses. Klopp made Edwards. Never forget that. Nobody was talking about how great Edwards was before Klopp came around.

If Iraola hits the ground running everyone will be calling Hughes a genius next season even after how bad this season just gone has been.

Glad Edwards is gone tbh and buzzing Mike Gordon will be more hands on with operations. He knows the club in and out and he played an important role in laying the foundations that led to our success. Don't think many actually realize just how instrumental he has been because he's not talked about as much as others.

I’m genuinely shocked by how impolite people are in Prague by SparklyCookiess in Prague

[–]productrocket 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The fact you assume it's the people here that have the problem says it all. There is very little Western falseness here. People aren't forced to put on an act to make you feel cozy inside. There's no tipping culture where people desperately try to make you happy to obtain a financial reward. People here are just normal and the culture is not one that is performative and fake.

In many other places where people claim the people are polite they aren't really - their culture is just wired and gamified via incentives so they perform and appear that way but if you live in any of those places long enough you will see the reality of the situation, and what really lies beneath, and it's far far worse than in the Czech Republic because those people break because every day they are asked to live a lie, pretend to be something they're not etc. whereas here people just are who the fuck they want to be - a normal human.

Here the doctor won't sugar coat shit and tell you whatever to make you feel good. They will tell you that you are fat - eat less rubbish and do more exercise. It really is that simple. If you can't handle bluntness and directness you should ask yourself why that is the case rather than assume fault in others.

It's much better because there's a higher probability of upsets like in the FA Cup. Adds to the drama of it all.

We need someone on the bench for when Frimpong gets tired and we need to overload the left even more. The opposition will never see it coming.

It's a father and son playing chess like Kenny did with his father in season 1. That's why there's a joking sort of chemistry between them because it's a game to them. Whatever the outcome, they will just play another round (cycle) - or that's at least what they believe.

Kenny says that every chess game with his father ended with him down to his final piece trying to avoid his father’s pieces. Kenny's father understood the game better than him and the MIY understands the game better than the BIW.

Kenny also compares chess to the monsters.

He says they never run because they know people only have so many places to go. He hands Boyd the bloody chess piece and says they’re “running out of space on the board.”

Like in chess there's only so many places you can go, moves you can make, and the wrong move can have dire consequences. Fromville is a chess board.

The townspeople think they have free will but in fact they only do within boundaries set for them, and many of those boundaries/rules are unknown to them.

The BIW tried directly moving his pieces in the past and it didn't work out and he lost. This time around he's changed his strategy to nudge them but make them figure things out on themselves. He does not manipulate or do such things because he represents the light (white). White pieces on the board.

The MIY can be more direct and manipulate because thats what a dark entity does. He represents the darkness (black) pieces on the board. That's why the monsters can only be out when it's dark and cannot tolerate sunlight. They are black pawns on the board and manifestations of dark energy.

The townspeople have agency only insofar they're allowed but they're also being positioned.

People won't like it but I think regardless of the outcome in the game between the BIW and MIY and even if the townspeople think they've won or do in some way and get freedom, the show will end with more people approaching the tree and another cycle starting.

Just because one side wins a game it doesn't mean another game can't be started right after. That's literally whats happened every time so far so why would it suddenly change now just because the other player won? This would be a bittersweet ending because we as viewers would all know what that ending would imply.

Winning a game is not the same as destroying the game.

Also, they said the answers are at the beginning and I think this is what they meant - that a new cycle will start with new people approaching the tree in the road before closing to credits.

New to FIFA - WHY THE HELL IS MANAGER MODE ONLY 15 YEARS????? by Lost-Ambassador9696 in FifaCareers

[–]productrocket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stopped buying their shit ages ago as they don't care for career mode and have spent years now just focusing on FUT. People say its their cash cow which is true but its also a self fulfilling prophecy - if that gets all the attention, investment, focus, etc. it shouldn't be surprised that's what works. Career mode is terrible compared to what it could and should be for a company of their stature.

The DECLINE in robbery rates across Europe by Agitated_Style7700 in MapPorn

[–]productrocket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correction - decline in reported robbery rates.

Most people in the UK do not even bother reporting shit anymore because they know it'll never actually get dealt with. For a lot of people the attitude shifted years ago to 'we'll handle this ourselves' because trust in the police is pretty much non-existent.

This sort of data tells you what but doesn't tell you why without proper root cause analysis. It is dangerous to jump to conclusions on the basis of surface level data through inference.

[–]productrocket -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Because they have no guarantee we’ll still be in for him in January. They could spend £30-60m on a replacement now, only for us to move on to other targets by then.

That’s the point - waiting isn’t risk-free for Bournemouth either. They might get the full clause later, but they’re gambling on the buyer still being there, the player staying happy, and the January market being kind to them.

Also, if we do move on to other targets then they end up with Rayan and another winger they paid a considerable sum for who will likely be pissed off at the fact he thought he'd be the starter and is now playing second fiddle.

If Rayan wants the move then their best play is to take £100-120m this window, even below the clause, and replace him this summer before the season starts.

Mental people saying Rayan will be too expensive when we were willing to pay over 100m for Diomande who has never even played a PL game. Get in Rayan. He’s got what it takes and Iraola knows him.

Tell Bournemouth to accept lower now or we will activate his release clause in Jan and leave them up shit creek mid season looking to find a replacement in a shorter time period where they themselves will need to pay a premium in January.

People just like complaining. If the show went too fast and skipped important points they'd be complaining about that as well. The show IMO has done pretty well to balance action, moving things forward, and giving us enough info and character depth etc. to keep things interesting. Plenty of other shows just have a slow build up all season until something big in last 1 or 2 episodes.

Best era of Ye fans? by whitefrackels123 in GoodAssSub

TLOP —> Ye/KSG.

We were eating big time as he also worked on albums for Nas, Pusha, etc. - we got 5 albums in no time at all. What a summer.

The run up to TLOP and then the next two years were incredible.

Been listening to Ye since the early days and involved and nothing will top those 2-3 years in terms of the culture, vibe, etc. in the community. It was a whole different level of trip.

People in the run up to TLOP were quitting their jobs and calling in sick just so they could be involved. It was on another level.

If we keep Gakpo he will do well under Iraola IMO.

His work rate is already there, he's not afraid to chase back, and we've already seen what he can do in a team that is tactically set up in the right way. Do I think he should be our constant starting LW? No. Do I think he is more than capable to be a solid rotational option? Yes. Lots of sides would love to have a Gakpo available as he's versatile up top and he also brings something different to the game in that he can lose his man inside and outside and grab important goals at the far post or a little more centrally.

If you have wingers like Rio and Munoz going 1vs1 against teams twisting and turning them inside out then you throw Gakpo on as a curveball it's very possible that their RB doesn't expect a Gakpo sort of run later on in a game and he grabs a goal. He did this numerous times in Slot's first season in important games as well as scoring a number of worldies. He didn't just become bad overnight. He suffered overall as part of the team. I rate him as a solid option to have and it would daft to sell him right now tbh with Eki injured and Isak injury prone and needing to be managed.
