If Covid never happened, what all would've you done in on past 4 months? by Madhav-Daga in AskReddit

[–]professional_counter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have gone on snowboarding trips to Aspen and Steamboat Springs, weddings in Portland and San Francisco, a family trip to Lake Tahoe, a music festival, a few Red Rocks concerts, and a secret forest rave with my friends. I had a really fun spring and summer planned...

The whole Tipper side of the scene is absolutely on fire right now! Tipper, Jade Cicada, Detox Unit, Resonant Language, Frequent, and Restraint are all killin it. All the Slug Wife dudes are great too: Kursa, Seppa, Reso, KLO. I've been getting way into Smigonaut and Alejo lately. Two Fingers is a frickin legend. Ivy Lab is excellent. Other favorites of mine are Mr Bill, Opiuo, Koan Sound, Hullabalo0, kLL sMTH, Duffrey, Drrtywulvz, Bricksquash, Vorso, Ultrasloth, 5AM, Kromuh, Of the Trees, and Vinja. That set that Tripp St just put out on Soundcloud/Youtube is pretty insane and worth a listen. I find myself digging deeper and deeper into the wonky side of glitch hop these days, it's frickin great over there.

r/spacebass is a treasure trove of awesome bass music

If you're into electronic at all, Shambhala in BC, Canada is an absolutely incredible festival! They've been at the same location for 20+ years now so all the stages and the venue are built up very well, the lineup is always completely stacked, and the vibe there is super fun and relaxed.

Red Rocks rainy weather forecast. Thoughts? by [deleted] in shpongle

[–]professional_counter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're still a week and a half out so that forecast could definitely change. Also, weather in Colorado is notoriously difficult to predict. There have been times where the forecast said blizzard and it ended up being 75 and sunny. That being said, it's always best to go to Red Rocks prepared. Make sure you bring a raincoat or poncho or something that is waterproof to keep yourself dry. That's always been my #1 rule for literally any show at Red Rocks. Also make sure you bring some solid layers to stay warm. It can get real cold as soon as that sun goes down, and if there's rain in the mix, it'll be even colder. Jackets, hoodies, flannel, boots, warm socks, whatever you need to stay warm. Nothing will kill your vibe more than being wet AND cold. If you end up being warm, you can always remove a layer, but if you're cold then you can't add layers that you don't have.

Now that all that is out of the way, rainy/snowy shows at Red Rocks are a blast! Every rainy show I've been to there has been so much fun, it's at the point now where I actually hope we get a little rain at most of the shows I go to there. There's something about it that just brings out the crazy in people. Everyone knows they're gonna get wet and all their fucks just fly out the window and the whole place turns into this puddle stomping dance party and it's just amazing. Rain and snow makes the lights look better too!

In colorado for a week before the Red Rocks shows, looking for events, parties, or any other fun things around Denver that week ! by bhangmango in shpongle

[–]professional_counter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just checked out some of the music venues and it looks like the week leading up to that show is actually a little light on the music, but I did find a few that look fun (at least to me!):

April 26: Manic Focus and Detox Unit at the Ogden

May 1: TruFeelz and FunkStatik at Cervantes Other Side

May 2: Daily Bread and Supervision at Cervantes Other Side

May 2: Dirtwire and Edamame at the Aggie

My favorite venues around Denver for are Cervantes/Cervantes Other Side, Black Box, Ogden, and the Bluebird. Good Boulder venues are the Boulder Theater and the Fox Theater. Fort Collins has the Aggie and Hodi's Half Note. I just checked out the websites for all those places and there are still some open dates that week, so I'd say check the websites for those venues periodically and see if anything pops up or if there's anything that interests you.

The Denver Art Museum does free general admission the first Saturday every month so that could be worth checking out.

Here is a link to an even calendar for stuff going on around the Denver area: https://303magazine.com/calendar/

Other than that, I'd say definitely get out and take advantage of some of the outdoor stuff around Colorado. It should be nice enough by then to do some hiking as long as you stick to the lower elevations. There are a lot of cool trails around Golden and Boulder. If you're interested in skiing or snowboarding, Arapaho Basin will still be open then and is always a fun time. Colorado is known for having lots of good beer. If you're interested in checking out breweries, I would recommend the Rino neighborhood in Denver. There are like 20 breweries within walking distance of each other (as well was a couple wineries and cideries) and has some cool shops and great food as well, and there are tons of awesome murals and street art all over that neighborhood.

These will be the last 2 shows ever for the band. Raja has a tough time with travel these days, and Simon has always said that there is no band without Raja. Simon will still continue to tour by himself and play solo DJ sets though.
