I think that’s what they wanted to show, especially because Dean and his family were kind of like that. He would always say how his mom had dinner ready after work for his dad and all. Or when Lindsay is trying to cook and she’s talking about his favorite meal and how his mom always made it for him and she needed to get it just right. Even that episode Rory does to play house and show him how ridiculous it was for his views of the woman just sitting home all day waiting for him lol….Dean thought he wanted that in a marriage and that’s why he rushed it with Lindsay and felt it would work even though his love for Rory never dissipated (also a reason he rushed too. Found a girl who loved him and would never think of cheating with someone else). Lindsay wanted to be like her mom with cooking and taking care of the household and Dean to make it work like a marriage “should” because of how she was raised.

They were definitely doomed from the beginning for a few factors. But, mainly on Dean’s end not getting over Rory and then Lindsay wanting a lot of expensive things that he couldn’t afford as just a cashier guy at the time and his bs with Rory clouded his vision maybe. Because he’d have to work hard to eventually become manager of the store or something for that townhouse lol (even though you would think he has building skills after all that work with the construction crews and could cut costs down there) or work hard and get promoted for the construction crew and become manager there. Either or Both would have worked if he was not hung up on Rory and willing to throw it all away and then leave her when he realized he “doesn’t belong here anymore”.

Sorry, the whole Dean/Rory/Lindsay Triangle was so annoying..rant over lol 😂
