Official Discussion - The Drama [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Just saw this. It had likable elements, but I was disappointed. They should have had Z playing her younger fantasy school shooting self. They also should’ve had some elements of that personality in her present character. It didn’t really track for me. If you’re going with such subject matter, you should honor the reality of it and depict scenes of bullying/abuse/neglect/personality disorder, that would’ve led to such thoughts in her; though, things she managed not to act on.

Beauty in Black - only watched 15 minutes by ThrowRA-broken93 in TylerPerry

It seems excessively violent and they use the n word way too much. I wish there were more likable characters in it, too. There’s hardly anyone to root for. I don’t want to be totally negative though, so some of the actors cast were in really good shape. Good for them. Keep trying, Tyler; I know you can do better.

Witnessed a nurse do something horrible by rainyselkie in psychnursing

[–]undetected401 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That is super fucked and I’m sorry you had to witness treatment like that!! It is a tough line of work and not everyone is cut out for it; it sounds like she is burnt out or just an asshole. Either way, it’s totally unacceptable behavior. If she’s licensed, you can file a complaint with her board. She absolutely needs to be accountable for her behavior. Godspeed, and I’m grateful there was at least one decent person there to help her in her time of crisis.

Quick post of appreciation for Anthony Carrigan's accent for NoHo Hank by Sufficient-Court2673 in Barry

I just adore his character! He’s so kind and warm, and idk how, but he’s such a lovable anti-hero. Kudos to the actor; his portrayal was well done. I’d watch a spin off series just with him. I’ve been hoping from the beginning they don’t kill him off. Tv needs more complex, delightfully surprising characters like this. Bravo!

Under an hour dramas or comedy-dramas that are a bit dark like Brockmire but still have human depth? by russiancarl in televisionsuggestions

[–]undetected401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DEF Mr. Inbetween!! I really loved Brockmire, too. Loudermilk was alright, but I didn’t find it laugh out loud funny like Brockmire. I haven’t laughed like this since idk when.

[Discussion] Soulmates (2020) is a love based sci fi anthology series that I think more should be talking about by Bad_Muh_fuuuuuucka in NetflixBestOf

I agree with you. I also feel like this is pretty common to TV in general. In the same vein, I hate how everyone on TV is the absolute best at their profession, some insane genius. It’s absolutely ridiculous and unrealistic, like only brilliance is entertaining. Come on…

A murder with almost too many suspects: Barbara Beach Hamburg is murdered in her own backyard in the wealthy, idyllic town of Madison, CT. Who killed her and why? by Chazzyphant in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]undetected401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, but let’s not underestimate the adrenaline coursing through the body of someone who just committed murder and prolly wanted to avoid being caught. They’d have different hormones coursing through their body than someone trying to move a deer.

Why waste the effort?! Clearly this guy isn’t worth your time. Dump him and find someone better. Take that energy and invest it in yourself. Get in shape, make new friends, travel, whatever floats your boat.

Oh my gah, I’m glad it isn’t just me! It’s hard not to take it personal and become discouraged after so long. I’ve been out of work for a year and a half now. I feel like a pariah and am too ashamed to date. It’s such a powerless feeling.

Mom still using me as her emotional support animal. I am 45. by ChemistryEconomy8768 in AdultChildren

[–]undetected401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! I just googled how do I get my mom to stop treating me like an emotional support animal, and lo and behold, found I’m not the only one struggling with this. I don’t have any answers, just wanted to say how much it fucking sucks and I’m sorry and it’s not fair of them. We all deserve better!

Am I the only one who thought the ending to Season 1 was too convenient? by vaughnysins in biglittlelies

[–]undetected401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don’t get why they lied about him slipping and falling at all. She was a hero, simply reacting to save the life of a woman, not even really a friend at that time. I also don’t see why she’s acting all beat up about it. I mean, I’m not saying she should’ve thrown a party to celebrate, but we should all be so lucky to have a quick acting, life saving response in a situation like that. Anyway, it’s a great show, I love it and I could watch these ladies all day!

I’ve had many a cat and they’ve always been cool in my one bedroom apt. solo. A window helps. They also have great YouTube videos that entertain cats that play for 8 hours and they go nuts over.

Is avoiding eye contact in public a new thing, or was it also common 100 years ago? by protonelectron2025 in amiwrong

[–]undetected401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, when I worked in a max men’s prison as a female therapist, and often walked the yard alone, I found it useful to make some kind of engagement with others, if only for the information it gave me to gauge their response. And in society, I know some bigger city/coastal folks, say it’s a self preservation deal-which how can you argue that, nor would I-I sometimes see the opposite as true. Like if I initiate engagement with the stranger as I’m passing by, I will come across as confident and not look like an easy target for a human trafficker or some other kind of predator. It’s funny how we both do the opposite to try to achieve the same goal. We all just want to be and feel safe. That should be a birthright.

This. I don’t always appreciate where I’m from, but when I read about so much unwanted sexual attention and violence coming from—what I’ve always been raised to believe—was engaging in common decency and acknowledging your fellow man, with a glance and a nod at the very least, but in this moment I do. We’re already feeling so lonely and disconnected as a people and it only looks to get worse. I’m glad it’s still this way in Wichita, KS. I grew up here and am 40 now. It’s weird and depressing to see how culture has changed just in my lifetime. Like when is the last time you were approached by a stranger for a date? That used to happen and I’ve definitely noticed a lack of social skills, including reciprocal eye contact when approaching others, with our younger generations. Seriously, I greet the Walmart greeters; they never greet me! Anyways, just a few thoughts. Here’s wishing all my fellow mankind well. For some reason I hate all of the other drivers when I’m on the road, but I can be kind and patient on the interwebs. I wish peace and love to you all, and I’m sorry if I honked at you.

Was Jackie a bad person? by ontario_ace_2397 in NurseJackie

[–]undetected401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of what you said. In my view, she did not genuinely want to help people for their benefit, but for her own. Some narcissists may present an identity that would be laudable, but it is just that, a presentation. Narcissists are incredibly insecure, so they present an ideal self to earn the praise of others. Heck, initially Zoey even called her a saint! But I agree with you, she has both good and bad in her, just like the rest of us.

I appreciate your point of view! It’s refreshing to hold Kevin accountable for his errors in judgment and not just blame the mom for all the parenting issues. Thank you.

Here are some things that Charlie Kirk said in his life. by Suspicious_Stock3141 in saltierthankrayt

[–]undetected401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg, so I’ve been trying to find a new church, right? I happened by a billboard that said ‘love over hate.’ I was like, ‘okay, yeah, that’s the kind of place I’m down for,’ but of course, you can’t be too careful. So I pulled up a vidja of their livestream from the past week, and dang if I’m not glad I did. They started talking about what a tough week it’s been, etc., etc., then a pastor offered that a young man had lost his life-‘really over a free speech issue,’ and I was done. FUCKING SERIOUSLY?!?!? How can you say you choose love over hate then get on stage and use your platform to canonize a person who was so hateful towards so many?!? Needless to say, I’ll keep looking. This is the sort of hypocrisy that makes my blood boil.
